Think people are just suffering from inertia.
We know if we scrape through and survive nothing will change and we will be back here next year - just rinse and repeat year on year - getting tedious for people.
Lets not forget it is also supposed to be entertaining, sitting there knowing we are more than likely going to fire a blank or fail to win and where watching paint dry is more entertaining - is not going to get people flocking in.
And for a big game like this we don't actually know whether our players are going to be up for it or not, just depends whether Mars is in Uranus or not - as to which team we see on the day.

Why would people want to go a home game? We’ve won 2 since late October. We stand a very good chance of losing. If we do it really puts us in the shit. And it will be anxious as fuck. Why would you choose to go to that if you don’t already have a ticket? I actually agree with this. It’s been utter crap. If you don’t have a season ticket why would you spend good money to go and watch it? Seven seasons of rubbish have drained fans enthusiasm.

They can’t do that as one off tickets aren’t allowed to be less than the price per match that a season ticket works out to. That’s why when they do the £10 offer it has to be presented as a perk for season ticket holders to bring friends rather than just outright selling tickets for a tenner. We tend to play shit when there’s a ticket offer on. I honestly think we’ll be better off without a few thousand part timers adding to the tension. I always thought that was the case Walrus but how come Hull were able to fill their stadium with cheap tickets for all spectators over Easter? For the record we shouldn’t need an offer to have a bumper crowd for such a big match as this. The problem isn’t the lack of an offer it’s the stupidly high matchday prices which no-one at the club seems to ever look at! Be creative Stoke for those who don’t have a season ticket. It’s all about habit and as we see every other week thousands have lost the habit already. We could have done it but would have had to sell them Plymouth fans for £10 too. We were hardly going to do that when it was anticipated they would sell out anyway. The gap on what we would loose on that vs the gain we would make on the number of fans wouldn't have worked. £20 less off 3000 away fans. We may get for example couple thousand fans at the normal price. We wouldn't get the difference to make it up due to the number of season ticket holders The only other way tickets are reduced is when we do a reciprocal away deal, but again would not have meant anything on home fan prices. Hull sold us tickets for £10 as well as home fans

If it means I dont have a family of neanderthals sitting behind me in the 'spare row' then good
* Getting to seats 15 mins after kick off so dad can finish his 8th pint
* referring to every player, decision, shot or incident as a 'useless c*nt'
* his kids maybe 12 and 10 joining in with the C bombs...
Disappeared at 35 for beer Reappeared on 60 Left to catch the bus on 78
(By my reckoning missed 3 of the goals...inc both ours)
I grumbled quite loudly about it, I thought he had left at half time but he came back eventually with his scrotes 😂
Not arsed about general swearing, but it was every other word, not sure he had seen a game for 10 years - cheap tickets dont always make a good atmosphere.

You can’t believe people won’t pay to have a shit anxious day out? Why? Because that’s what fans of big clubs do. Like Sheffield Wednesday did last week. We haven’t quite got the fan base of Sheffield Wednesday unfortunately, I thought the max we would be able to get for the Plymouth game would be around 25/26k which for me is still a good turn out. An extra 4k fans who haven’t already got a ticket for this one wouldn’t improve the atmosphere anyway. As long as the players look up for it from the start it should be a good atmosphere and there’s no excuse for it not to be.

Another one is Birmingham City, who’s fans rallied behind their team with a gate of nearly 27,000 on Saturday against Coventry.

Nah, there will be a few thousand watching it on IPTV and posting on this message board throughout the game.
Several I know who are commenting on it now.
We hardly had many sell outs in the PL
Stoke sell tickets cheaper than most, no excuse

Good. More chance of winning then. For quite a while now every time we get a big crowd at home the players fail to perform.

There’s not a good feeling around this club. You talk to people that don’t go and they have no intention of going any time soon. There’s no buzz. There’s nothing to look forward to. It’s a trudge. Of course that isn’t irrelevant.

It’s like we’ve better utterly shit, totally mismanaged and ran by a bunch of idiots for a good 7/8 years now. What do people seriously expect? I actually think we’ve done well to keep the crowd numbers where they are when you compare it to what we got before the PL. That we still average above 20k surprises me.

There's enough feeling around the club for it to more than sell out for our last away match People who have no intention of going soon simply rarely go anyway. Because, as you say it's a trudge and they would rather watch it at home

Well I disagree. Our biggest home game for 7 years and supporters need a cheap ticket incentive to get them down to the ground? Packing the place out with kids for £1 who aren’t that interested in the game can be counter productive. I think the attendance will be decent anyway. Much better to have 22-24k there who are all truly committed to the cause. The crisis of poverty being suffered in stoke and other similar areas is unprecedented in modern times and is akin to Victorian England. And people voted Tory at the last election! Unbelievably in Stoke.

It’s an irrelevant comparison because you’re comparing us to two of very few clubs who are actually worse than us at the moment. Their fans have packed out their stadiums for crunch relegation matches and yet ours don’t seem arsed. Maybe we just aren’t a big club 🤷♂️

It is as others have ponted out a huge game for us and we need to win, the consequences are not worth thinking about, and this fragile lot will need our full backing for 90 mins.

To use a word I hate but it works, the “vibe” around the clubs are totally different.
