The reason for the āhatredā for our friends from Boslem stems back to the 90ās when for 1 season only, they were in the league above us while we were in Division 3 under Lou.
They were lording it about every week giving it the big āun being Pride of The Potteries etc.
Talk about mouthy gobshits!
Not bad for a team who have never ever played in the top flight of English football in all of their illustrious history, which they donāt like being reminded of!
Thatās why if your of my age we hate the fcukers with such passion.
They deserve everything they get
Wembley of The North your having a laugh, you could get their 4000 fans in one stand!
I hope they go down to the National League asap.

Just looking at the records since when the Potteries Derby restarted in 89/90ā¦ Following Stoke relegations, Vale were in the league above in 90/91 and 91/92 and then for another two seasons in 98/99 and 99/00; on both those occasions, they were relegated and joined us in the third tier. Donāt know when it started but the real animosity towards Stoke predated them being in the league above from 1990. I went to watch them win in the play offs in 1989 with other Stoke supporters. Was taken aback at the anti Stoke feeling coming back on the bus..

Who cares that they are down? I forget they even exist until their name pops up on here. I couldnāt name a single player in their squad or any of their managers in the last 10 years.
They may be in the same City but they are not a rival.

Big day out in Burslem next season is getting some responses š¤¦ 'Big day out' - capped off a brilliant weekend. I remember them drawing Brighton in the cup some years back. My Mum, who couldn't give a single toss about football, had herself in stitches at what those Brighton fans must have felt when they got off their coach and surveyed the arse-end of Mordor. *I could have ruined the moment and pointed out the Withdean but couldn't be arsed.

Crewe home games on Friday night too, I believeā¦ you say stoke fans not supporters a fan is someone who just enjoys football in general...a supporter is someone who follows there team through thick and thin I have been a fanatical Stoke fan for well over 60 years and have been to over 1,500 Stoke games and another 200+ reserve and youth team games, which I think means I have followed us through thin and thinner. However, for about 10 years from 1979 to 1989, I also used to go and watch Crewe, especially on a Friday night, and Vale, especially on a Monday (and Stafford Rangers if there was no other game on that day). (Probably seen those 3 teams play 300+ times between them) I always thought it was because I was a sad bastard or Billy No-Mates. I didn't realise it was because I wasn't a proper Stoke supporter.

tbh the 'championship ready' stuff was nonsense, that was a period in time now gone, same for Crewe. They only managed two seasons back at this level, and this is the third time they've been demoted out of it in the past 20 years (not counting numerous relegation battles).
They're a steady L1/L2 side.

I don't subscribe to this so-called hatred of Vale - but I do get it for those who do .... their relegation adversely affects the city to some degree and it would be a sad day to see them fall out of the FL as many "old" leage clubs have over the years. As others of a certain age have stated, there was a time when a good number went to both Stoke and Vale on a regular basis and always wanted both to "do well" as my dad used to say - he was primarily a Valey through attending Stanfields Tech, but went to Sheffield on that summers day when we missed out on our one and only chance of becoming 1st division champions in 1947 - rightly or wrongly he was always a bit bitter about Matthews leaving us for Blackpool in the weeks before that delayed match. He then took us to see some of the more glamourous 70s matches as kids - Ajax and the like when we were pushing for the top post winning the League Cup - anyhow I digress..!!!
Crewe however are a different matter and I'm definately in the "hater" camp primarily for the way they denigrated our club during the 90s, and generally cocked a snook when they were briefly above us (and the eternal Radio STOKE wank-fest over Crewe and Gradi week in and week out) - indeed, I clearly remember the cheers going round the Vic if Crewe were leading at half time but this goodwill soon disappeared when folk realised what a nasty, malign little club they were.......
