This got me thinking the other day.
With 2 clubs cities, which clubs are the biggest.
Now i know you'll be thinking that obvious, in Stoke-on-Trent its Stoke, in Nottingham its Forest, in Birmingham its Villa, etc
However i was thinking, who's bigger in Sheffield, United or Wednesday. Same in Bristol and Glasgow.
Thoughts?

Bristol City in Bristol just from crowds with them and Celtic in Glasgow but would be close with Rangers as they are both huge clubs.

What about Milan, they always seem very even Inter are a bigger club. Only a bit behind Juve. In the city of Madrid, Athletico are just as visible as Real. Real Betis are large than Seville.

Weds in Sheffield, City in Bristol, difficult to tell in Glasgow I woukd say Milan was probably the most even. Very similar size fan bases and similar trophy hauls. Maybe AC edge it on the basis of more European Cups/Champions leagues

I think its clear Falkirk are bigger than Stenhousemuir, but Stenny have won promotion. But Falkirk have as well, a great season for the city.

How many cities have two clubs?
Stoke Liverpool Manchester Birmingham Nottingham Glasgow Bristol Dundee Hibernian Falkirk
Does London inner city have two clubs, I know Chelsea has, but is that a borough, and do they count?

Ironically in the city of ‘Hibernian’ Hearts are the bigger club. Although this probably depends on the support they draw in from the Lothians.

Wolstanton was a two club village back in the day. Wanderers and Utd. Utd played on the lower marsh on a sloping pitch and Wanderers played on upper marsh, quagmire of a pitch, opposite the Cricketers Arms. Utd were the more successful team but both equally supported with crowds of 20-30 often attending. Wanderers in the large check shirts I think. It may even be vs Utd because they played in maroon shirts.

In Scotland the Glasgow and Edinburgh clubs rivalry is based on religious sectarianism bollox but Dundee clubs are not. How many, if any, English clubs have the same sectarian rivalry?

Manchester has Manchester City and then errr ..Manchester City ..
The city of Salford does have a club though , but that’s greater Manchester not the city of Manchester ..no different to say the likes of Oldham also in greater Manchester , Tranmere being in Merseyside or Newcastle Town being in Staffordshire
And before you say that’s being pedantic, it really isn’t ..it’s factually correct ..nor is it meant as offensive ..it’s only offensive to deny Salfordians of one of their major football team ..it’s Salford who has two teams

I sometimes thinks it makes us less attractive to potential buyers. While Vale get about a quarter of the people who watch football in the city I think they control more like a third of the geography. For a meaningful comparison you have to ask yourself how many people would attend matches at each stadium if the clubs were in the SAME division.

Weren't Liverpool and Everton in the old days although often dismissed Everton were St Domingos although I think were Methodists Things have changed over the years and Liverpool more associated with the Irish Catholic although often wrongly claimed they were formed by the Orange order Linfield and Belfast Celtic was a serious rivalry which resulted in Belfast Celtic withdrawing from the league after their players were attacked on the pitch
