Did you vote at the last election? Yes, for Labour. Unfortunately Brexit mattered more to the electorate than anything else. Thanks to Nige

Come off it ffs he's one of the most influential politicians in modern British and indeed, European history despite having never been part of our one/two party establishment. He is without question the ONLY opposition politician that Sunak and Starmer are terrified of right now. They now full well if Big Nige stands for Reform, we've got carnage in this next election... Fingers crossed it happens, democracy needs it and the British people who want their country back need it. That's a pisser He's a footnote now So why do the Tories keep trying to buy him out? Why is he still spoken about so frequently in the mainstream media? Why do the left still harp on about how much they hate him all the time? And he was also the main person behind one of the most stunning political results in modern European history. Aside from that he's a footnote 😂

Better at what? He's done nothing. Never held office in the UK and had an appalling record for attendance and voting whilst he was an MEP. He wont even get off the pot as to whether he's even in the game this time round. A progressive Green Agenda is ideally what I would want and in that respect Farage will never even come close - if he ever stands at all. If I thought a Green candidate had the remotest chance in a constituency in which I voted they'd get my vote and suboptimal though it is a Labour govt will be more likey to take steps in that direction than the current govt or Reform ever would. Maybe I'm setting the bar low - but give me that over a cultish devotion to self appointed populist messiah's any day of the week. You only have to look across the pond to see where that gets you. Just digging through all the shit you don’t mean(95% of what you’ve said) Who, realistically is going to improve this country’s politics? What party? Give me a name? It’s not good enough to slag people off who have never done it (despite one in particular convincing an entire nation to leave the EU pretty much single-handedly) If we’re going off records of people who make a significant change Nige is top of the list There are any number of politicians I would take ahead of Farage - including a couple of ex Tories There is nothing but nothing that I find politically attractive about Farage nor do I believe that he would improve anything. I believe he would be detrimental even beyond what we have now (and I'll decide what I mean - not you). You have a different view - and that's fine. That said I'm more than happy for him to stand as is his democratic right - but at the moment we don't even know if be can be arsed so it's all pretty hypothetical.

It's interesting that some of our self professed posters who have no interest in Politics are so engaged with a Politician that has a unique record of failure to become Elected to Parliament

Farage is a conman and he would be as bad as the Tory party with the amount of corruption in our politics. Part of me wants him to become PM so people can see what is so obvious about him and his party. Tories are always trying to shaft eachother friends or not, why would they give a shit about shafting people thy don't know? Reform are just another Tory party and their intentions will be the same. Power and money is all they care for.
I don't know what party I will be voting for yet because I haven't seen the candidates but it won't be a right wing party and that includes Labour.

I think the sense of inevitability about a Labour victory helps! If I felt like my vote would make a difference, I'd vote Labour to remove this pilfering Conservative government. But I can't bring myself to vote for Labour over their gutless response to the Israel-Gaza conflict. I take your point but it was people staying home and leaving it to others that gave us feckin' Brexit. No way am I leaving it to chance. The turn out for the EU Referendum, at 72.2%, was the highest for any national vote this century.

I'm going to spoil my vote in protest at a system that gives people a false choice between the Labour Party and the Tories both of whom lie to the electorate to steal their vote, particularly the socially conservative working/lower middle class.
Good to see people finally waking up to the fact that both the Tories and Labour don't represent them and are voting Reform UK. Obviously under FPTP it's a wasted vote but at least it's a vote for someone who actually represents their views.
As it stands Farage isn't a threat to the Labour Party but he would be if he joined the Tories or took over Reform UK and did what he did last time round - sell out his own supporters by standing aside for the Tories. As it stands Reform UK are a massive problem for the Tory Party in that if they do stand they will split the right wing vote and swing pretty much all the red wall seats back to Labour.
My preferred outcome at the next election is a Labour minority and a centre left alliance based on constitutional reform (including PR, an elected second chamber and proper regionalisation of power). Failing that I'd prefer a Tory victory on the basis that would see the back of Starmer and Labour facing up to the fact in order for the center left to get into power they need to accept the two party system has had its day and the future of politics is cross party co-operation.
As it stands I think there will be a massive Labour majority and no significant change - after a couple of terms the Tories will get back in and the cycle of government between two sets of unrepresentative bullshitters will just repeat.

Being as I'm not really into politics, can I ask 2 things?
1. Do Candidates still go door to door to try and win your vote,as I've not seen any in my area. 2. What's the difference between someone being Right-Wing and someone who is Left-Wing'
Thank You

I’ll be voting Lib Dem as I live in a lib dem area and the tories are second place here. First past the post means we vote against who we don’t want (the tories in my case) more than for who we actually want to win because voting for who we want to win is often a wasted vote in our system.
If you want to vote for who you want to win, wait until manifestos before deciding.

What's the difference between someone being Right-Wing and someone who is Left-Wing' Thank You Some candidates still go for to door canvassing but the main parties only tend to do this in marginals - if you live in a safe seat they often won't bother. 40 years ago left wing and right wing were pretty much defined in terms of economic policy - the left wing were defined to terms of state ownership and downplaying the role of the free market and the right wing were defined in terms of minimising state intervention and letting the free market decide. These days it isn't that simple. Right wing and left wing doesn't really fully describe modern politics. There are still differences in terms of economic policy but there is another dimension that is just as important - social attitudes with a variation from socially conservative to socially progressive. To understand the situation you need to define politics in 2 dimensions, not one. Tories: Economic policy right, Socially Conservative (but some argue the current leadership are too socially progressive) Reform UK: Economic policy left, socially conservative Labour: Economic policy right, socially progressive (but at the moment making out they are socially conservative to win back the red wall) Lib Dems: Economic Policy right, socially progressive (as per Labour but don't pretend to be socially conservative) Greens: Economic policy left, socially progressive The above describes the mainstream political parties. There are also parties on the far left (SWP, George Galloway's Workers Party of Britain) and far right (Britain First). The far left is usually associated with eradication of the free market, state ownership and authoritarianism and the far right with racism, an extreme form of patriotism and authoritarianism. Both have resorted to intimidation and violence to pursue their political aims. You'd think this would mean lots of choice but it doesn't. Unless yo vote Labour or Tory your vote is pretty much wasted because our political system is rigged to ensure one or the other main party gets exclusive control of power.

Thanks CBUFAWKIPWH I'm still a little lost but will keep going over your post until I get it. If you are interested in politics it's probably better to forget about the labels left and right, think about what you really care about, find a party that you think reflects your views and vote for them. Unfortunately unless it's Labour or the Tories your vote will be wasted.

I'm falling into the 'none of the above' category. That said there's only been one candidate who has taken the time to call round, chat about issues and make sense. He understands the area along with national issues so someone you could get behind. Unfortunately he's on a hiding to nothing because his colleagues are currently in charge of the nation's purse. Personality and a nice hair cut seems to play too large a role in a percentage of some voting intentions I suspect.
