I always found that spot behind the Boothen very random and almost insulting to the man.

Great news, now just to manage the Matthews statue better, the fan zone will hopefully pull the statue into the fans eye more, some tree management would make it visible from the A50 on none match days

I liked it where it was.

Great news. Could Stoke fans of the era help me out? With such a wonderful record, did he come close to international honours? If not, how come?

Bravo to the club, Simon King is quietly doing a great job. He's a real asset for us moving forward.

Should never have been put where it was in the first place, another Tony Scholes special.
Fair play to Simon King for resolving the issue.

About time too. Well done the club...... “Well done to the club” Really? It’s only taken God knows how many years of the Ritchie family moaning to the owners and them not giving a shite. It’s good that the club have finally listened I guess but why it needed the family and fans (the ones who deserve the real thanks) is anyone’s guess. The owners just don’t seem to give a shit about this heritage.

Is there no one going for the gag about the 11 statues that need moving on the pitch every two weeks? No?

Great news. Could Stoke fans of the era help me out? With such a wonderful record, did he come close to international honours? If not, how come? I think he played a couple of games for what was then called the England B team I dont think that even then the managers thought Stoke were a good source of great talent. Alan Hudson got one game I think, as did Mark Chamberlain. Pej got a couple as did Mick Bernard ( once he went to Everton )

Huddy got 2 caps, Pej got 4 and Mark Chamberlain 8 (while at Stoke) Mike Bernard only played for England U23s.

Getting old, don’t like change. I liked it where it was. If its what the family wants then I’m more than happy …. That being said , and I’ve posted this previously , on the day of Banks funeral , I took myself away from the crowds and spent time at Leaders statue ..on a matchday I agree it’s siting might not have been the best ..but on that day in particular it was the ideal spot to be alone with my thoughts and memories ..and has been on a few other non matchday moments of reflection since

All John's family will be in attendance tomorrow, along with some of his team mates. I'm delighted for the family. As previously mentioned in this thread the Supporters Council and fans have been pushing for the relocation for several years. It would be fitting if one of our current strikers could bag a couple v WBA in memory of Big John tomorrow. He was some player!

The Banks one being located on council land rather than the clubs is a disgrace, as is the fact we almost lost the Stanley Matthews one due to not wanting to upkeep it.
I support the owners in lots of ways, and give them a very wide birth. But on these things they have fallen, way, way short of the mark.
The Stan statue should be front and centre behind the boothen end on its own paved/lit area.
The banks statue should be outside the the entrance to the main stand as people enter.
And as others have said, if the stan statue is to stay where it is, efforts should be made to make it more prominent.
