Because I read the oatcake and we have a manager, team who are not trying or capable of competing in this division, but I read outside reports where our players are trying, competing but losing out due to a moment of bad luck. I work most Saturdays so don’t get to go much but I turn to the oatcake constantly to see how we got on. It’s bizarre how different the reports are. Is the oatcake just full of doom mongers or are the reports elsewhere not understanding our predicament.

I was in denial up until the QPR match, but what I saw then really worried me.all I see is a team devoid of confidence, basic ability without any direction or plan. I actually think they are trying but sadly, and bafflingly, don’t actually seem to be good enough.

I actually think they are trying but sadly, and bafflingly, don’t actually seem to be good enough. The players aren't great but the bigger problem is a naive moron of a manager stubborning sticking with tactics and a system (introverted fullbacks) that we don't have the players for. We have very dodgy defenders who then gift goals every game. Not learning the lesson that we only got a win against QPR by grinding it out, and going back to his stupid inverted system. Having favourites (Cundle) who are a Schue in for the starting 11 every week, who don't bring anything to our style of play. Shuey needs fucking off asap and we need a firefighter in pronto.

Our next league game is in March & we are sitting in the relegation zone. The season ends at the start of May, so I’d say things are pretty bad, on the cusp of an absolute disaster.

Things are usually exaggerated on here and mostly, towards the negative side of things (obviously this is true at the moment, but in general also, I believe).
Make no mistake though, we’re in dire straits.
If football wasn’t about goals, we’d be an average Championship team (we can pass it around like any mid table Championship eleven. - whoopee) , but unfortunately, we are terrible at scoring and at keeping the ball out of our own net + we’re full of silly mistakes…. So only the main things then!
Have the players stopped trying though?.. No, I don’t think so. I don’t think they want their money for nothing.

Seven defeats in eight games.
We are really, really shit. As bad as it gets.
There is no exaggeration.
We are heading down to league one and the current team would struggle to beat anybody there as well.
The manager lacks the experience to get us out of this and I suspect our current points total is largely what we’ll finish the season on.
It’s over.

Mate I get that, I really do, but the difference between a team that’s trying and a team that isn’t is everything. The worst case scenario is that they *are* trying their hardest. Which I think they are.

Seven years ago we were playing premier league football. Since then we’ve gone through managers at an unbelievable rate of knots, spunked the parachute payments, had rebuild after rebuild, never finished in the top half of the Championship despite our wealth, have no clear strategy or forward momentum, squad members training with the kids, can’t score, can’t defend and have just slipped into the bottom three with just twelve games left and no sign of arresting this God awful decline. Come August we could be playing league one football. League one! From Arnie, Bojan to a squad like this, in less than a decade. It’s shit!

The main problem now is that they have ridiculous tactics (introverted full backs) that don't suit our players and the new keeper is a level below Bonham - which is quite the feat!!

Even if we get a win against Boro we have Leeds away next, so it's not looking good.

They are really bad when the urgently required goalkeeper the "recruitment team" bought in isn't as good as the not good enough keeper we already had. Thank goodness Iversen wasn't bought in permanently. I can't believe I'd ever be saying this but I really hope he brings Bonham back in for the remainder of the season

Mate I get that, I really do, but the difference between a team that’s trying and a team that isn’t is everything. This weekend teams including, millwall, qpr, Huddersfield, swansea and Sheffield Wednesday tried and succeeded. We tried and failed. Pretty much it really. Thats the difference.

Just a very slight ray of light,Sheff Wed & QPR were a lot worse than us,but are managing to turn it round,do we have enough games left to do the same?

Any keeper playing for us will have zero confidence. It's shot to pieces playing behind Wilmott, Rose and McNally who to a man are beyond wank. I remember in the prem Sorenson, begovic, Butland, and even before Crosslet, Nash, would all face 10+ shots per game and they would be unbelievable shot stoppers on their day earning us points (until Butland wasn't). That was against much much superior opposition, at least the first few. We need an abdolaye signing, not Cundle, along with a Lee Grant, Crossley, Nash type... Not this guy who has zero confidence in himself. So yeah this is on whoever has the last say.i would suggest the lack of experience and knowledge if Schuey played a huge part. I would even go as far as to say the 'manager' should be falling out with recruitments teams for suggesting shit players and scouting said players himself to be sure they fit into his side. TP would.

SS and his team have bought nothing technical or tactical to the way we play, just the opposite in fact. Ok,I get the fact that we were pretty poor when he arrived, but usually new managers bring in new ideas and get a tune out of the squad, new manager bounce and all that.

I genuinely think that we could bring in Guardiola tomorrow and it wouldn't make any difference at all. The good players (Burger and Bae) look good and the shit players (the rest of squad) look shit. That's because Burger and Bae are good footballers and the rest of the squad are shit footballers. I really believe that they are playing for him though.

There is plenty of effort from the players, but there is a huge lack of quality in key areas. We have no one capable of scoring goals and are a walking disaster defensively. We neither have the talent in attack to fire us to safety nor the defensively solidity to grind out points. So, instead, we are left in this weird twilight zone where we cannot seem to pick up points regardless of how we approach games whilst we have a very young manager who has no idea how to stop the rot. I genuinely cannot see how we turn things around in the next dozen games.

It'a always doom and gloom. Remember when we were beating Arse, ManU and Chelsea with Pulis? It was doom and gloom back then. Then when we were hitting Liverpool for 6 it was doom and gloom with Hughes. It's what we do. It's like wishful thinking and only happy when moaning. I wonder how much of that negative energy and natural-born malaise permeates into the general atmosphere and onto the pitch. Is that why good players become shit when they come to Stoke and player we slag off as shit end up being good players when they leave?

But I'm saying that this group (possibly including the staff) are incapable of that. For example, can you teach Hoever to have football intelligence? If so, how long does that take?

Very very bad. Has been for ages. Its sole destroying watching it play out how it has so far. Fucking painful.
In reality we do not win enough football matches nor do we score enough goals. At the back, well its the weakest back five i have seen i stoke shirts in years. We lack massively in attacking players, quality ones for a start, and what ever options we do have they are average. Midfield is quite packed but we have a team of really underperforming players and average players.
I just pray we scrape it. We might piss it! Who fucking knows any more.
