Taken ill during training (he's 76!) and is in hospital. He never really made it as a player but is one of this country's greatest managers. He also struck me as a really nice guy.
Best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery.

Hope he's OK, but he really needs to retire.
76 is too old to be dealing with the stress of football management.

It was reported in the press today that he was going to be sacked by Palace. I wonder if the two things are linked.

Oliver Glasner to take over at Palace according to the Telegraph.
I must admit I've never heard of him.

Unless it’s all staged for him to retire and save face and allow all parties too move on Be a bit extreme that would wouldn't it but does seem very bizarre and coincidental that everything bar the announcements were all in place behind the scenes. A more believable version would be that Roy was ill and taken home to recover. The going to hospital bit is harsh if its a club set up. Which just makes you wonder if he's taken the news they've given him badly and he's suddenly taken a turn. At that age, a shock may well result in someone becoming ill. Although Roy & those close to him must have known that this decision was a distinct possibility & coming down the line..

Let’s hope he gets well soon but let’s be honest he was an absolute disaster for the England national team and arguably took us to our lowest point ever in 2016
He should never of gone back to Palace after leaving the first time in that wave of emotion

Roy has come I for some flack from Palace fans who seem convinced they will be relegated. But 2 minutes looking at the league table and fixtures tells you they won't be.

Wasn't there some talk of him coming to Stoke at one time when he was between clubs? Can't find any links but i'm sure that it was discussed.

He seems a great bloke does Roy but he should never have gone back, he's getting shit off the fans of late and doesn't need that or the pressure of the job at his age. I hope he's well and good.

He hated Stoke. We beat Fulham twice in one season when Pulis was here and was far less than complimentary in interviews after both game. Didn’t he also hang Shawcross out to dry when he was England’s manager?

Hopefully Roy is on the mend and back in the dugout soon. Football is his life and I'm sure he'd be quite happy to die still doing what he loves so I don't see why he should retire should he make a full recovery. If he wants to continue managing or maybe take on a different role within football then good on him. His experience would be invaluable anywhere he went, Ricky and Jared could learn a lot from someone like Roy.
