Ps I wish Roy Hodgson all the very best and he makes a full recovery but he didn’t like TP’s Stoke out muscling his fancy Dan Fulham team at the time!

Really?? I think he seems like a nice bloke overall. Look at his interviews where he has a foul mouthed rant at a reporter, or the day after he'd finished with England interview, where he states he doesn't even know why he has to be here, doing the press conference. Ranting at reporters is hardly unjustified.

Ranting at reporters is hardly unjustified. He wasn't ranting at supporters he was ranting at a journalist for asking a question about a decision during a game and accused him of taking the piss

Recall this goalless draw at the Brit in the first season in the PL.
Big Mama ruptured his Achilles.
In the post match interview Roy Hodgson said it was a long time since he had witnessed a set of supporters “so violently” contest the decisions of the match officials!🙂
Good old John Paintsil:

He hated Stoke. We beat Fulham twice in one season when Pulis was here and was far less than complimentary in interviews after both game. Didn’t he also hang Shawcross out to dry when he was England’s manager? By actually playing him? Bought him on cold against arguably the best striker in the world who he and every other defender everywhere had struggled with and used that excuse to never pick him again when Ryan was clearly one of the best defenders in th the country

Let’s hope he gets well soon but let’s be honest he was an absolute disaster for the England national team and arguably took us to our lowest point ever in 2016 He should never of gone back to Palace after leaving the first time in that wave of emotion 2016 was a lower point than 1950. Against the USA we pummelled them and the ball just wouldn't go in. Like when we played Lester in 78/79 Iceland deserved to win by more.

Spot on Hodgson has had an unusual career Good at both club and international level, very good at times Bad at both club and international level, very bad at times

Yes, Hodgson would moan his bag off about us when he was in charge at Fulham, everything from dangerous tackles to penalties Fulham should have been awarded. Still, I wouldn't wish him dead, so get well soon, you sour old bugger!

Also hated his philosophy that he only liked to pick players from big clubs as the coaching is better, saw that in an interview years ago and it stuck with me all this time. Harry Kane on corners FFS, top coaching Roy.

Bought him on cold against arguably the best striker in the world who he and every other defender everywhere had struggled with and used that excuse to never pick him again when Ryan was clearly one of the best defenders in th the country He wasn’t the only England manager to overlook Shawcross, unfortunately for Ryan we had real quality at CB for the majority of his career. To hate on Hodgson just because of that is very petty, but each to their own. I wish him a speedy recovery, he lives and breathes football and always seemed like a respectable manager to me.

It’s not just that. Read my point on how he treated Ryan compared to the two Southampton players. That shows his thoughts on Ryan

Most of the footballing world was seeing the incident through arsehole Wengers rose tinted glasses. This must have affected his future selection. When Ryan was eligible to play for wales through his grandfather, the current manager Coleman said publicly that he would have to seek the permissionviews of Ramsey before considering Ryan. Think Ryan probably gave up on an international career after that. Pure disgrace can only describe Ryan’s treatment by much of the footballing world after ramseygate mainly due to wenger and his influence.

May be wrong but I thought capello gave shawcross his 1 cap v Sweden It was Hodgson mate Hodgson didn't just give him his only England cap but absolutely threw him under the bus in doing so. Bringing him on as a sub cold to defend an absolutely in form & on fire Zlatan Ibrahimović wasn't the cleverest thing to do, or kindest for Shawcross's prospects of ever playing for England again. Other reasons I dislike RH with this being one of them. His spell as England Manager and his bleating against Stoke when he was WBA manager had already helped form my opinion of him. Still don't wish him ill though and does seem as though he's been treated harshly at Palace.

He never played the game at a professional level and outside of second rate Scandinavia, despite managing a number of top sides, has never won a trophy of any sort. Not a big fan but obviously lives and breathes football and I wish him a speedy recovery.
