Much better playing as a CB in my opinion. Defensively didn’t really put a foot wrong last night. Won his fair share of headers as well He still got caught out in a few one on ones but luckily they didn't punish it. Whenever I watch him play I always think he's going to switch off and do something stupid. Exactly, he has ability and pace but sorely lacking concentration / attention or a footballing 'brain'...needs SS with a cattle prod

Sorry, that is what I meant. You've confused me😵💫 What I was trying to say was, I was more comfortable seeing Hoever play centre back than I had been the previous game when Wilmot played there. Sorry for the confusion.

I'll give him his due, it was one of his better games last night, though QPR did play with a lone striker, who McNally marked quite well for much of the game... I'm not sure how he'd be as a centre back if he was up against a team with two strikers!!!

Hoever was def a better RW/RWB when he first came to Stoke (assists + goals) compared to the RB/LB we seem to be testing him out as …… also Junior is a solid defender who many opposition LW’s can’t enjoy playing against so why not just play to our strengths instead of being (weirdly) ‘creative’?? Doesn’t make sense IMO

Spot on, called this ages ago. Got laughed at...
Only in a three mind. Not a two. Can play a higher line knowing he can chase back abit quicker. Not short either.

We got caught out more frequently on the other side Hoever as part of a 3 at the back with a licence to roam into midfield when necessary could be a great idea Plus gooch and junior on the flanks Just saying

I see Wilmot had an absolute shocker at Blackburn, can't argue with being dropped Generally I think Wilmot is our best defender but happy to see same 3 on Saturday Rose is really coming on and McNally best game for ages too

He gets dropped for QPR and hey presto, our defence looks a lot better. Rose and McNally are our best defensive pairing, but I'd much prefer to see a back three with those two and Hoever going forward.

Wouldn’t be sad if he never pulls on a stoke shirt again. A liability week after week after week.

Fuck him off. Every game it’s only a matter of time before he fucks up and nearly/does cost us the game.

Thing is.. every lay person watching knows he's a waste of a starting place yet successive managers keep picking him. It's on the manager!

Absolutely brain dead footballer.
Should never play for the club again because time and time again he pulls a stunt like that.
Let him do it somewhere else.

Does a guaranteed starting place even exist contractually? I find it really hard to believe if it does. He has been dropped to the bench once or twice so I think that managers have a thing about playing loan players for some weird reason.

It HAS to be contractual. Not this brain dead rubbish again Well why the fuck would successive managers continually pick the absolute disaster-waiting-to-happen?!? Every single person on this board knows he’s wank - so why then is he seemingly untouchable? When he’s fit he plays.

We know he’s an absolute liability.

Why isn't the manager asked the question in the post match interview about Hoever being a liability every game?
