No still all over the place too many times and no genuine pace even against QPR the ball over the top caused chaos and panic. Still, we were exposed far less than as we had been in a back four, especially in recent games. McNally and Rose each lost their man once I think, the latter of which led to those double shots on goal, but both overall had really good games, McNally in particular. Hoever's passing was a bit wayward at times, but he too won his ground duels and he made quite a few passes that got the ball closer to their half. I see no reason to revert to a shaky back four again. Hoever has definitely looked more reliable as a centre back when he's played there, I reckon.

After 18 months of desperately recruiting for AN’s 433, our best formation is still 352 (or something similar to it). With 3 at the back, at least we have some sort of chance that one of the dipsticks in defence will be awake when the opposition attacks.

If you have just a bland selection of donkeys, put the two with a bit of speed at wingback and out you go. Or at least you'll be 5 in defence. There's even a pairing up front for the bang average strikers that need to feed off each other.

Tbf I thought both Rose & McNally did well the other night, particularly McNally but a better team than QPR would have punished us..We pressed, full back’s tucked in leaving NcNally one on one with their CF which I found terrifying! Need a few more battling performances to see the job through then reset in the summer beginning with the recruitment team.
