Hard to carve his hair, but I'd have Terry Conroy up there.

You could put a case forward for: Waddington - greatest manager Ritchie - record goalscorer Skeels - record appearance holder Matthews - greatest player Denis - just because he's Denis The only player I could pick from the modern era would be Shawcross because he was captain and pretty much ever-present during what now needs to be looked at as a golden period for us. Picking four is tough, but I'd go for Waddo, Ritchie, Matthews and Smith If you include Denis the mountain will have to be granite.

Trying to think about the history I think it’d have to be Matthews, Banks, Waddo and Shawcross.

Trying to think about the history I think it’d have to be Matthews, Banks, Waddo and Shawcross. I took “your” to mean personal, as in a subjective during your time thing. If it’s an all-time icons thing it might be hard to argue Ryan over Skeels, Ritchie or Denis.. even Soo or Franklyn.. but then they’re all from 50+ years ago ☹️

Players who I’ve seen and one from each generation of teams. Berry, Stein, Hoekstra and Ric I could give another 50 combos though Managers is thin though Lou, Gudjon, Pulis, Hughes

Soo, Matthews, Banks, Shawcross Love Shawcross but I'd swap him with Franklin or Steele. Otherwise I agree 👍🏼

Only one I'd possibly change & its no disrespect to him, is Hoekstra for Arnautovic 🤔 .. Yeah I'm going Berry, Stein, Fuller & Arnautovic Changed again, sorry Ric.. My final 4: Berry, Stein, Walters & Arnautovic

Legend that he is Shawcross couldn’t ever be on any list ahead of Smithy.
Banks because he was the best the world has ever seen.
Sir Stan obviously.
And of course the guy who was untouchable in his prime.

How about a mini mt Rushmore ….thinking where the winking man is….. I’m sure he could be reworked into someone (not sure who) and then Banks (yep I’m biaised) Denis Smith, Greenhoff, and Fuller……mind you Arnie would brilliant maybe with the pout ….he used to make me laugh, when he was up for it he was a one man army.

It’s a difficult one as I’ve watched Stoke since early 60s. Controversially, although I saw him play and he was one of our best ever players, imo Sir Stan blotted his copybook by leaving Stoke right at the end of 46-47 season arguably costing us the league title. So it’s a no for Sir Stan. There’s 6 in my Rushmore which should be sculpted in the face of the Ramshaw Rocks on the Roaches. John Ritchie our record scorer Denis Smith local lad lived and breathed Stoke City Gordon Banks the best ever keeper imo Jimmy Greenhoff super gifted player Ryan Shawcross as the best of the 21st Century Tony Waddington took us back to the top league and kept us there for 14 years. Both TP and Lou are strong contenders but winning the League Cup tips the balance in his favour.
