Macari had a slow start too. Lots of draws. Not many goals. But not many defeats.
Hopefully lightning strikes twice….

Would kill for a prime Bertie upfront now

Would kill for a prime Bertie upfront now Exactly lou had a better squad of players available to him for that level and critically goals in it . Poor Steven has yet to see a open play goal by one of our players after 3 attempts at home. You wouldn't rule out that being 5 or 6 unless we add forwards before Birmingham

W2, D3, L1 is not too shabby if I read that right.

I don’t think it’s been a slow start? 🤷♂️ 1 win 4 goals in 4 league games. That its deemed satisfactory by most just shows how bad things had got.

I don’t think it’s been a slow start? 🤷♂️ In terms of results it has. One win. A defeat. A couple of draws. Admittedly very different circumstances to Macaris start. But quite similar in results. And like Schumacher, the performances from Macari Stoke were characterised by togetherness and character from early on. And like Macari, Schumacher has arrived at a time when the club is at a very low ebb.

W2, D3, L1 is not too shabby if I read that right. Not bad. But no win in the first three. Performances were decent though. Deserving of more points. Like Schumachers start.

Stick in a queue trying to get in when Bertie scored away at Posh.
Long way to go to miss the goal.

Pretty sure that Peterborough game was Vince Overson’s debut.

Brian Little started with 6 wins so a steady start is probably preferable.

The results will come. And actually the results even haven’t been that bad. A good away win. A good home point. A decent away point. And a frustrating home point.

There were a lot of disappointments that first season under Macari including the run of 3 defeats in 4 later on in the season against Hull,Bury and Torquay but I think we all knew we had the right man to take us forward

However, TP started with 5 defeats and a draw. We lost 4 on the bounce prior to TP’s arrival. Then he started with zero wins in his first 9… L, L, L, L, D, L, D, D, L Then S.Weds… Until that game it was 3 months / 16 games without a win (after last beating Ipswich and the elusive George Burley 🙂) en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002–03_Stoke_City_F.C._season

Hughes got 2 wins and a draw in his first 6 games. I think that is the benchmark.

Straight into the thick of it and, “You don’t know what your doing” chants the day after at Walsall 🙂

I don’t think it’s been a slow start? 🤷♂️ Agreed. We’ve picked up points away and against the second best team in the league. It’s what you’d expect of a top ten team.

A Stoke player who I won’t name, did a monkey impression to a black Darlington forward by the away end at Feethams. He got torn to pieces by the Stoke support in the vicinity.

During this time there was a Stoke fan who’d go the aways on an MZ motorcycle. Absolute hero for following his team on a pedestrian, East German two stroke commuter. I think his bike got nicked that season.
