Even though we don't get many I was surprised that there had to be a debate about who was going to take the penalty. Surely there should be a designated pen taker. Relieved that Baker eventually took it. However a debate/dispute like this could easily unnerve a player prior to the kick and even potentially cause I'll feeling between players and within the squad. Especially if it is missed!⚓ Yep Never ceases to amaze me that at a professional football club there isn't a 1-2-3 of designated penalty takers.

As I now wind my way back to the south coast I’ve tried not to read any other input to influence my thinking . For me it was an absolutely horrific afternoon illustrating just what an appallingly run football club we have become . Platitudes of how good Brighton are mean nothing , one team had had £330 m invested in it over the last 10 years and it wasn’t Brighton . iverson’s performance for goal 2 and 3 summed up the appalling state of our recruitment , another one of the endless line of replacing an issue with a bigger one , while the geriatric disinterested. Preston reject masquerading as a left wing back was as pathetic as one of Ricky Martins deluded monologues. 28 players in the summer and only one Burgur has any material value ,.Brightons organisation , fitness and recruitment today was a complete humiliation . The attitude of the two front subs candidly said it all bone idol, clueless or both and the rumours about attitude of some of the new signings clearly confirmed. I saw Real Madrid a few years ago play a championship team pre season and the gulf today was as wide but all those years ago the chasm could be attributed to resources today it’s down to abject incompetence. Tonight should see the utterly absurd martin and Jared dismissed when the hire idea of a better keeper is do ruthlessly exposed , before they inflict further damage, just what nonsense is in that January window slide deck one can barely imagine , can they do worse than Wesley , vidigal, and Johnson etc etc but it clearly won’t . A desperate relegation battle awaits and candidly it’s likely to be the first of many . For Steven I really fear he’s surrounded by abject squander and incompetence and has a squad of players that are abject , reduced to replacing the criminally poor Johnson with a lad that was jettisoned by the Vale. it was a utterly dispiriting and humiliating afternoon and our only hope is thats what it’s recognised as rather then a valiant effort against the mighty Brighton .Because until we do recognise just how shit everything is about our fotball operation top to bottom the tail spin will just gather momentum and clubs of lesser resource or equal will continue to widen the gulf between us . Abjectly miserable way to spend a Saturday 450 miles for a humiliation that perfectly captured everything that’s so poor about our football operation . I’m sure you’ve predicted a relegation battle every season. We haven’t been in one yet. Even after the NJ debacle, MON had us well clear by the end of the season. Brighton are one of the best teams in the country. They won their Europa League group and could go far in that competition. They are indeed, mighty. Pedro alone cost 3-4x more than our entire squad. So, there is definitely a difference in resources. You can't argue with his basic point though... We've been totally mismanaged and directed for x years, they've been superbly managed and directed for x years.

However, as one of the richest clubs in the championship and on the back of a glorious stint in the limelight it doesn't cut the cake with some. We (the Club) fucked up. Plain and simples.

Unless you are one of: Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs or Arsenal, you are likely to be relegated at some point. The Coates family definitely screwed up and have continued to do so. It didn’t ruin my afternoon as it seemed to have done for Biscuit though. I think that it’s a bit melodramatic.

Myself and colleagues enjoyed the game, disappointed with the result but not despondent for the future. 👍

Bear in mind we had no Tmompson, Junior or Gooch today.. can't look too much into it, they needed their best players also . Quite excited for our game v Rotherham...said absolutely none ever before Rotherham away many moons ago under Macari. Easter Monday I think. One of the best football days of my life. Steinooo... Wasn’t at Rotherham Bojan got an ACL rupture that ruled him out for 12 months?

We've been totally mismanaged and directed for x years, they've been superbly managed and directed for x years. Agree with this. However it also demonstrates starkly the difference due to huge gulf created by difference in money that is generated by PL vs EFL clubs. We encountered Brighton for just one season in PL, they were on the up whilst we were plummeting and they are probably now where we were in the 3 seasons under Hughes when we had consecutive 9th place finishes. But they have recruited both players and coaching staff much better than we did in those final years of PL.

However we have a new manager who faced 4 games in 10 days ,has been a breath of fresh air and we've just been beaten by a very good Premiership team and we didn't lie down and allow our bellies to be tickled ( yes I mean you Alex) So the timing of his rant seems a bit odd but then again that's Benj for you I suppose..

It seems one or two aren't acknowledging what a good team Brighton are and how serious they took us yesterday.
I reckon we'd have had a far better chance of beating Man United ,as an example, based on current form/ attitude.

Considering the opposition, we gave a really good account of ourselves. The left side was the issue for me, everything slowed, or went backwards when Johnson got on the ball.. Everywhere else was pretty much pass and move.. he simply has to be a sub at best moving forward.

You only had to look at the team they put out, to see whether they took us seriously or not. It was their Premier league team that plays, week-in week-out. They saw us as a threat. No doubt about that. We should take comfort in that. It proves that the new Coach is changing this team to present a threat to our opposition. Whoever they are. Bodes well for the future.

Didn't have a chance to follow it. Was it fair? Yes 4-2 a very fair score. We put up a hell of a fight though and we were well in the contest for 70 minutes but they were just too good for us in the end.
