It doesn't matter how you go about avoiding relegation it's achieving it that matters. If Birmingham had started the season in another relegation battle then you might have a point but they didn't - the Birmingham board got starstruck and ditched a manager who was doing a good job for them for one that would up their media - which is what many on here are calling for. If recent record was the sole criteria Eustace would be the clear and obvious candidate. I'm not saying that should be the sole criteria or that Eustace is the best overall candidate but to say he isn't the right man given where we are is nonsense. 'Recent record' was 10 games. Christ, even we looked good for 5 under Neil. Again, nobody on earth would be calling for John Eustace if he hadnt been a Stoke player. There is no nonsense in that statement. If its not Nuno then JDT would be my second choice. It's absolutely nothing to do with him being an ex players and everything to do with him turning round a team in immediate danger of relegation into one that isn't. And it's isn't just the 10 games this season - it's the trajectory of his team since he took over. People seem to be ignoring we are a team in real danger of relegation and getting a manager in with a recent record of avoiding relegation is a massive plus. You might not want Eustace - which is fine - but claiming he hasn't got a recent track that makes him a prime candidate for a team in our situation is bollocks. Unless of course you don't actually believe relegation is a genuine possibility - which it is.

He would be sacked by Easter with relegation all but certain.

You have absolutely no evidence that Eustace would be a disaster - if anything the recent evidence suggests exactly the opposite. You are guessing.

Can't see why he hasn't been appointed if the case unless we were waiting until after today
Seems at a wild guess is perhaps negotiations with a 3rd party which is the delay . Tomasson maybe but to be fair, seems no one has a clue
You'd have thought an available candidate wouldn't take this long unless we were talking to a fair few.
Bottom man and Mowbray def on the no list for me. A bloke who has an arse for a name and bloody Kraken face

Begovic's after match comments nailed it, he said a few good things about Stoke, good job for somebody, everything in place etc etc, then goes on to say "Stoke fans expect the best, and they'll expect just that when appointing a manager, need somebody with a big personality that can handle the pressure" he's Bob on. Then the main presenter says immediately after, the bookies favourite is currently John Eustace. The girl sat beside Bego nearly sank in the sofa. I've got nothing against Eustace even if he is a Brummie, not for me though at this time

It's in their Sky contract, weeks notice

If either Carsley or Eustace get the job I think they would benefit from an experienced older head to help them along the way. Step forward LOU MACARI. Knows the club

I think we are mostly in agreement that we need a new manager as soon as possible as we are in a very threatening position in a very difficult league. In coming to a decision what credentials a manager definitely needs in order to be considered for the job at Stoke I would list the following:- 1. Someone with considerable experience that has the respect of players and supporters across the country. 2. A manager who has achieved success at Championship, Premiership level, or equivalent abroad in high ranking leagues. 3. A manager who is presently under the age of fifty. Personally I do not feel Eustace would be the right man. He seemed to be doing OK at Birmingham but it would be a gamble and we cannot afford to gamble. I look forward to seeing who we finally decide upon. My biggest worry is that we don't break the mould of all our previous decisions. Merry Christmas!

It's a little bit of a stretch to claim that John Eustace "saved" Birmingham from relegation last season. That implies that he took over the team when they were in the bottom three and guided them to safety. He actually took over the team prior to the start of the season and though they did spend a short time in the relegation zone early in the season they actually went 11th when they beat us in November and were comfortably safe when we drew 0-0 at St. Andrew's at Easter. They finished the season with virtually the exact same record as we did. You might as well give credit to Alex Neil for saving us from relegation last season. I appreciate that Birmingham may have been a bookies favourite for relegation and given the circumstances at the club he did a decent job there, but "saved" them from relegation?

Yeh - who bets on crap like this ? I get sports betting when there’s a legitimate competition being played out on a sports field or track but unless you are privy to inside knowledge- which of course would be illegal surely ? then you may as well buy lottery tickets …..

I can never help calling this one out, I’m sorry. The phrase is “Jesus H Christ”. We know. However, many years ago when I was about 18, I posted "Jesus Hates Christ" because I very stupidly thought the H stood for Hates and, understandably, got the Almighty piss taken out of me 😂 People have used it since as a reference to that. It’s me…I just can’t help myself. I might start doing it myself now just to annoy people like me.
