That I 'chose' to miss a home game.
There have been times when I have been unable to make the games for a variety of reasons.
However, on Saturday, I chose not to attend the game because of total apathy towards the team and the club. I have seen woeful teams down the years, but still I've been to the games. Speaks volumes that on Saturday, I simply could not conjure up the excitement or anticipation for a performance. I listened on the radio instead.
I was back there on Tuesday night, and apparently we played better than we had on Saturday, but still the frailties exist. We look like conceding every time a team attacks us, and we rarely look like scoring when we attack.
And now we have the fiasco surrounding the new manager, whoever that may be.
I do feel the life being beaten out of me by the club, and that saddens me after nearly half a century of support. I just want to see a team that tries hard and actually looks like they want to play for Stoke. I know that players are motivated by money these days, but other teams do seem to have more of a togetherness than we have seen for many seasons.
I just hope that the new manager can instil some passion and urgency, and that this, in turn, invigorates the fans to get some noise back in the stadium, The atmosphere was shocking on Tuesday; even the light show was met with muted mumblings of support.
I fear that we may never see the top division again for a long time, if ever. I just want to feel some excitement for a match day again, instead of the dread of it ruining another Saturday night.
I'm sure that the players, and probably the managers and owners, have absolutely no idea how deep the passion runs for our club, and how it affects a huge part of our thinking. We just want to feel connected again. JC has ruined that bond with the supporters that PC had; just hope the next manager can help to retrieve it.
I'll get me coat.... (and tin hat)

With your thoughts brother, but not your actions. Within our group, we are all close to "not being bothered" to attend - clinging on, but it wont take much for one of us to miss games for no reason. Totally agree, the lifeblood of being a Stokie is being dissolved by JC

You missed one of the worst football matches ever
Tuesday was miles better, up to average
This is the first season I haven't been to an away game
potential to change the mood dramatically with new manager
I'll be varying degrees of happy with (in no particular order) Potter, Nuno, Carsley, Jokanovic, JDT, Mckenna, Evatt, Eustace
I'll be varying degrees of unhappy if its Heckingbottham, Mowbray,

(and tin hat) Totally understandable in my opinion. Living up in Manchester and despite always having a season ticket I choose games very selectively. But I have noticed that on the whole the trajectory of footballing quality has been declining pretty much every year for the last 7. Think I've seen about 5 games in all that time that I've thought that was worth seeing. I made the awful mistake of turning up for the Sheff Wed game the other day. Broke me that one. First time I think I've ever booed my own team. Utter shyte. Yeah I'm a glory hunter, don't care, but if they were actually worth watching I'd be there every week and would look at getting to some away games again. Build it and they will come. Think about the money we've spent yet we're getting progressively worse. Takes some doing that. Sort it out JC.

Second half particularly I thought they were decent.
I think John is holding on to see what Gallagher can do in the short term

I don't think Tuesday did him any harm, a few seconds away from a victory, played some decent stuff second half

And I didn't want Pulis back the 2nd time and I was totally wrong about that obviously. So you know what fook it. Goaaarn ooh ahh Gallagher 😆 I give up. I no longer care...

Emilio Fiasco - young up and coming sexy foreign coach currently ripping up the Panamanian First Division with Sporting Club AyAyAy. Not been linked with him in the press but my sources close to the club are suggesting that we might be in for a truly leftfield appointment in the form of this guy.

I stopped giving a toss a long time ago. This club is the part of the fabric of every supporter who posts, otherwise we simply wouldnt be here. I wish I didnt feel this way but its been a joyless place for a long long time. Just hoping the new imcumbent can put a smile back on my face.

Got to say it bothers me, I'm bored of getting nowhere and big overhauls that don't bare fruit. I want someone with a bit of a profile for a change. I'm not against seeing what Gallagher can do though before bringing in more of the same in Eustace

That performance in it's own right was enough to get AN the sack and quite possibly put off nearly every fan that was in attendance. It was beyond woeful and not just us, Sheffield Wednesday were marginally better but still abject. I have never seen anything so misrepresented as "entertainment", it was a soul destroying shit fest compounded by the fact that we contrived once again to lose. On Tuesday I came down to see my dad (90) who comes along with me and the first thing he said was "it's on Sky and I am not sure I fancy going along". Normally I would have said come on, but I was that p*ssed off with the performance on Saturday that I thought yep that sounds like a good idea. All I could focus on during the Swansea game was the negative aspects of this team, just got to the point where anything remotely "good" is paper over the cracks of the never-ending list of failings in this team. Mmaee swanning around up front, no apparent structure or patterns of play, defenders getting caught wrong side of the ball continuously, lack of physicality or speed in the team and a propensity to have a cluster f*ck any given moment and give an easy goal away. I'm really struggling to think what I do actually like about supporting Stoke anymore and it is made even more galling by the fact that we have wealthy owners....

The choice of the next manager will make my mind up one way or the other. Like the fella who started the thread I have been going to Stoke for 50 years but have never felt so depressed or down in the dumps as I do now. One bad mistake after another from the owners has sucked the life blood out of me we should never have been relegated in the first place it was pure incompetence from the owners who caused that & its just gone from bad to worse since then. I dread this coming game on Sunday as I think this could be a 5 or 6 goal thrashing thats how bad things look.I hope they prove me wrong but I have lost all faith in the club from top to bottom.

We must have the same source, I've heard the same. Once he navigates the jungles of the Darién Gap, sneaks onto a container ship at the seaport of Barranquilla in Colombia, hitches a ride from Felixstowe to Staffordshire, sits tight in the North Stafford hotel until his asylum claim is looked at, John Coates can finally say he has his man. Exciting times.........

You made the right choice, unless you really wanted to witness apathy on the pitch (1st 45mins), in some respects you missed a mile stone. Onwards n upwards with some ickle ups n downs on the way. Was ripping yarns bad.

He might make a good manager one day but surely we wouldn't risk that with the shit we are in.
