I'm in.
First game about 1963 or 64, can't remember the exact game.
The first I distinctly remember was 66 (?) v The Villa, we won 6-1 and Harry Burrows scored a hat-trick.
I'm still going strong, home and away.
As to why, after 60 years of shattered dreams, I'm still daft enough to go to QPR on a Tuesday night then to Plymouth 4 days later? As someone much wiser than me said, for those with faith no explanation is necessary, for those without faith, no explanation is possible.
Up The Potters!

I think, even then, my first game was probably away somewhere. Our local Vicar (Edmund Richardson-Davenham C of E) would take his son to games and, knowing my love, and parental hatred of the game, would invite me along. A Geordie born and bred the Reverend told me later that, though he and his son were striped black and white, through and through, like Blackpool rock, of all the ‘local’ clubs Stoke were his favourite. Once again organized religion ruins lives! Within the catchment, I won’t go into too many details but..Manchester/Liverpool/NW England in the late 60’s/turn of the 70’s there were a few good players around. My favourite was Mike Pejic. To the extent that when he moved to Everton I declared I was an Everton fan (lasted about a week) I, to my great sadness, retain nothing of live sporting events. I can give you chapter and verse on music, musicians, guitars, cars, comedy. Shows I’ve done and people I’ve met. But I only have snapshots of any of the games I’ve been to. If anything at all.. That being said, my first football memory is seeing the pitch at Main Road. The black and white comment above made me smile. We were opposite the Kippax and whilst Davenham was pretty countryside (at least then) I had never seen anything so green in my life as the pitch at Main Road. These we’re the days of ‘The Bell’ if you were ever there…you know. Mike Summerbee’s legs as well. We had post war furniture without that much material in it. Anyway. I have the perfect way to take down any other codger army. We sus out their boozer (It’s probably The British Legion, if they are top notch a ‘Spoons) No colours (we aren’t amateurs) Look for a meaty cribbage game (no dominoes..Stone have ruined that for us) I slip in, half of mild, first time I claim ‘one for his knob’ I drop I had seven major spinal ops in the last ten years. Chaos ensues as the list of ailments from their team threatens to take down the NHS at a stroke. As we leave we present each of them with a small SCFC enamel badge and, in the best traditions of the old Inter-City firms we leave a business card on their table…. Of a good proctologist. Love the idea of the proctology business card. It might say: "Up your scrawny Arse 'n' All - you've just been bored to within an inch of your life by the Nifty 50." In which case the card might also carry the contact details of a reputable undertaker who offers a reasonably priced funeral plan.

You can witter on, getting all misty-eyed, about the frankly terrifying experience of Cardiff away in 1977/78. Nothing to do with the aggressive home fans (although they were). It was a 400 mile round trip from Manchester in Wigan Dave's rust-bucket Vauxhall Viva. That car was NEVER road legal.

Cardiff's finest were no match in the fear stakes compared to Wigan Dave's rust bucket. In fact my trips to Millwall in the 70's were a doddle compared to Clarkie's death trap tours. Happy days mate.

You're possibly our official archivist. Altho only if you look at today's team-sheet and remark (out loud, ideally only to yourself): "Wtf? I've never heard of a single member of the team or the sodding bench". No he can’t be because it was Sheffield Wednesday that ended 4-4 not Blackburn & don’t remember Alex Elder playing in same team as the rest of players mentioned. Also he never mentioned Farmer Palmer playing for us in 60s before he became a VIZ comic legend. Perhaps the official archivists should be a committee to ensure accuracy of information. I wasn't trying to be an archivist I put ? after Blackburn. I was only listing some of the names of the earlier games which I could remember.

I'm definitely in, first game 1955 at the Vic with Mum & Dad, lifted over the turnstile and had to sit on Dad's knee in Boothen Stand Block C. Flask at halftime always smelled funny, hot coffee with a generous portion of rum ! I was 5 years old then, 73 now and living in Portugal but me and her still have season tickets used by family but we get over when we can. Is this a new start up of N70, I'm in although not as good at faytin nowadees. Not sure about the N70, but if you hang on a few years you might be leading the notorious and much feared Batey 80.

I'm in...if supporting Stoke from distance over the past 50+ years counts. The thread of disappointment runs just as painfully through my years in Scotland, London, and for the past 20 years, Asia. You're in. Our boy in Sri Lanka perhaps? The fact that you've moved several thousand miles to distance yourself from the pantomime is more than sufficient. Or our incontinent continental correspondent?

First game was the 1970 v Motherwell in the Texaco Cup (Anglo Scottish, Irish affair). Won 2-1, but as we'd lost the away leg 1 nil, it went to ET & pens - which of course we lost. So, I'm in.

Other members will be fascinated to hear, in great detail, how some of us bowled up at the house of a friend, whose parents were "hosting" Paul Randall after he signed from Bristol Rovers, and while he found permanent accommodation. As I recall it was the Friday night before his first game and he was watching TV in our friend's living room. Might easily have been Nationwide, presented by Frank Bough. Someone asked him a lame question like "Do you think we'll win tomorrow, Paul?" The living room became engulfed in tumbleweed. Unbelievable Geoff - unbelievable!

I wonder if skip (our graphic design expert) can work it into the business card, using his John Bull printing set?

I think you may find that so far as stinking of piss is concerned, you're likely to be the very last to know. After exhaustive polling and focus group work, I can confirm that there is overwhelming support for the idea.
