Not that you can doubt Percy - but American site reporting it now too www.topbin90.com/post/dean-smith-set-to-become-charlotte-fc-s-next-head-coachAccording to sources, Dean Smith is finalizing his move to become the next head coach of Charlotte FC. He will be Charlotteās third manager in three years. The former Premier League manager will join his son, Jamie, stateside. His son played college ball at NC State and played for the Greenville Triumph in 2023. Just need Heckingbottom to be ruled out, and things will look brighter

Typical lazy-arsed. You do wonder who the actual fuck is talking to John Coates. We'll never ever learn. Clueless Ricky Martin is in charge of recruiting, according to the Neil announcement. John Coates is even more clueless. In the land of the blind the one eyed is king. Scholes abandoned a sinking ship and Peter Coates replaced Scholes with his son who knew nothing about running a football club (he still doesn't or we wouldnāt be in this mess). The word will be out that Stoke is not what it used to be and anyone thatās any good will stay away.

He was Neilās side-kick at Norwich when they got promoted. Thatās it. Look at the 18 players he signed in the summer. No plan just threw darts at the wall Unfortunately none of those darts hit a defender. Itās unfathomable why heās still here. Same goes for John Coates. OāNeal did a great job of clearing out the playing staff. Unfortunately he couldnāt do anything about the biggest problem - the board, especially the CEO.

We signed defenders Rose, Gooch, Junior & McNally, Hoever on loan and Clarke after the window had closed. Heās only part of the group that identifies players the manager signs off on them. RMās main function in the process is closing the deals so to close 18 of them he must have been pretty competent. We missed out on major targets because we wouldnāt meet the fees, pretty sure theyāll have had those parameters given to them so I canāt lay fault at his door for that. His and ANās careers overlapped for a pretty short period Iām sure heās been doing other stuff during his working life but heās certainly not a football name so to speak. He probably wouldnāt be my choice for a DoF technical/sporting director but the point is Iād sooner have one than not. The Coates are to football what Dodoās are to omelettes.

Werenāt too many saying Rose was terrible after 4 clean sheets, personally I always thought he was just keeping Wilmotās place warm for him.

I know that we are Stoke City & we have billionaire owners but in the position we currently find ourselves in in the field, we are not going to be able to go out and get any manager we want. For me Dean Smith is an upgrade on the last 2 managers which is 1 box ticked. Hes done a great job at Walsall, Brentford and Villa. He only had the last 8 games as manager at a team that was too far gone to save from relegation. The only blip on his cv is Norwich. I would give him a contract until the end of the season with a view to a automatic extension if certain targets are met. Makes me laugh when people keep touting established managers on little more than a trial basis. Theyād laugh in your face. And yet he signed a 2 month contract with Leicester š

Mowbray might accept an 18month deal cuz heās pretty old.

I think not It appears to be a game of total luck. On the face of it it wouldn't be an ideal appointment. But he might turn out to be the right man for now and go on to galvanise the club and end up a legend. Total guess work but who the fuck knows one way or the other.

Agree it is guesswork just needs a manager to click like TP did But you have to eliminate certain criteria to get what you think is right at that time. Eustace May end up somewhere else and do well but that doesnāt mean he would do the business here
