Eustace, Heckingbottom and Smith. Christ alive. Lazy arsed list and not surprising in the slightest. It's our M.O. Coates out.

The Sentinel love a good story and never let reality, truth, probability or perspective get in the way of a good headline.
I remember when the headline screamed "GYNNS JUST THE TONIC! ITS MICKEY FOR THE POTTERS!!!"
The hyperbole got to me so much I rushed down to the first pre-season I could, only to find a very small ex Coventry player on the pitch with a massive tash

How can you go from approaching Potter to those three, where’s the consistency, the plan for the future. Be afraid in fact be very afraid now! I am.

At least we asked.

Indeed, if they were prepared to cough up the finances to get Potter, then I see no reason why we can't approach Evatt. Yes it will cost a bomb but so would have Potter.

What motivation for our club has Smith got other than money? Hopefully at least the other two would be vaguely motivated. Really disappointed if that’s it.
That said Potter was a pipe dream wasn’t he. So why not try and get someone to stir the natives slightly?

That story about us approaching Potter is just to try and build a little bit of positive impression in the media.

If Carlsberg did footie managers... They’d employ Kevin Keegan. Who doesn’t want to just go out to score more than the opposition every week really apart from some sad fucks who think a Shandy Bass is risqué.

That said Potter was a pipe dream wasn’t he. So why not try and get someone to stir the natives slightly? He needs to rebuild his career and might be interested in a long-term project where he can build something. Let's face it, 99% of the managers we are being linked with are coming here for the money. Why else would you come to a bottom half Championship club? 😅

Potter’s next job and importantly when may well be determined by the terms of his contract and terms of dismissal at Chelsea .. he signed a 5 year deal there & lasted 7 months ..some clubs insert conditions that payments stop when the manager gets a new job , can’t sign for rivals in the same country , division etc for a specified time
If he’s currently sitting on lucrative payments that will stop if he a) signs for a English club b) European contenders ( seen by Chelsea as rivals at the time of his dismissal ) then little wonder he’ll pick and choose and run the clock ( his payments ) down

Is anyone surprised?
We had the nerve to approach a man who 5 years ago we rejected for Paul fucking Lambert ?
Talk about taking the piss.
I assume he just laughed down the phone before terminating the call.

Now come on JC, forget these tactically-limited Brits and get Jokanovic on the blower now!!

For instance if Chelsea offered him £5m per year and we are £1m then Chelsea pay £4m and we pay 1m. That is how I understand it but maybe wrong but either way little incentive to find work

It would be chicken feed.

When you are still being paid based on your previous contract, you can afford to wait around for the right job opportunity.

To be fair Pochitinno or however you spell it is making a mess of it too.

I mean this is no surprise, was obviously never going to happen.
But can’t we go for something a little different, outside of the box?
Dean Smith? Come on now.

That story about us approaching Potter is just to try and build a little bit of positive impression in the media. That really isn't the point I was making. They have signalled that they are prepared to spend (very) big on the next Stoke City manager, so when people suggest that Evatt would be too expensive, then I don't think that argument holds much water.

I'm not saying Potter hasn't turned us down but I would just point out that this is an article that describes John Eustace as 'ex Stoke defender'. Just saying.

Not sure who the new gaffer will be but would love Jon Walters in the management team. They could learn by example. How to maximise their talent. And how to run through a brick wall for the cause..

Evatt's success has been based on three at the back. We've just moved away from the legacy of O'Neill's wing-back system and I just think we're in the position now that rather than rip everything up and try and go into rewind mode, we need a manager who can work with what we have and develop further. I think most would agree our current squad suits a 4-2-3-1 out of any formation. We need a manager with a track record of getting the best from four at the back, two DMs and effective wingers.

Former Stoke defender Eustace led Birmingham City to the Championship play-off positions in the early weeks of this season before being replaced by Wayne Rooney in a controversial move by the Blues’ new American owners.
Jesus TeamTalk - Eustace never played as a defender for anyone.
After Potter, Eustace is my favourite choice. Loved him as a player and he was doing good things at Birmingham until Rooney showed up out of the blue.
Eustace is young enough and on the UP and UP - and has a clear connection with the club. We cant say for sure if it will be a success, but then we dont know with anybody.
EUSTACE please

Does that mean the recruitment is gradually getting closer to Staffordshire? May as well chuck my hat in "I've known the club" all my life and live local.
