Have to say I enjoyed the excitement when they first came on board and Bjarni on the wing played some good stuff. The Cardiff playoff victory was immense. Glory days.

The video montage that's played on the big screen just before kick off makes me very emotional 😭

Without them there would of been no BET 365 and no 10 years in premier league.

A very good retort to people who say if stoke city had foreign owners then they wouldn't care about the club, would be all money , money , money.
Well we did have foreign owners and they did care about the club.

We were just a feeder club for the national team. Guds foul language made him a legend in the boardroom....

Anyone got gudjons number ? You clearly never met them... with the exception of gudjon..... they had barely any interest in scfc .... they genuinely thought they could sign the Icelandic team....and walk the league unbeaten..... our chairman was at more man utd games than stoke games......be careful what you wish for

Without them there would of been no BET 365 and no 10 years in premier league. How do you work that out? Our fortunes changed when Pulis came back for the second time under Coates. If you think moving to the from the Victoria was a good thing, then that's your opinion not mine.

Because without the icelandics money bet 365 would never of existed Coates gave the money to denise to set it up the rest is history Coates then had the money after a couple of years to buy the club back (golden share) so without the icelandics money no pulis no funding no premier league no stadium ownership that got us out the shit ladt seasons ffp by selling it to ourselves, what's the Victoria ground got to do with it?

Not the case at all Peter used the money from the sale of his dingy chain of provincial racing bookmakers to provide the seed money for bet365. What he got for the sale of Stoke he’d have been lucky to start up a small chain of ice cream vans. Great story but utterly untrue.

I wonder more why an industry leading name in Coral spent 30 odd million on them. Just shows poor judgement is no rare commodity.

Yes provincial racing and stadia catering were all sold to fund bet 365 but i bet the icelandics money helped.

You were saying it was instrumental when in comparison it was chicken feed and bet365 would definitely happened without it. Not sure the seed money provided even exceeded the money he got for provincial but obviously I don’t know how much of that was leveraged.

Did they get about 10 million for stoke between him and Keith Humphreys? Don't know what percentage but looking from the outside in i would say it was instrumental in bet 365 being formed and made it doable with the other sales.

Approx £3.5 million for 66% according to this Sentinel article from a few years ago - www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-icelandic-consortium-takeover-3490207

And still nobody on here knows how much of that was leveraged. The biggest contribution the sale of Stoke City will have made to the inception of bet365 will have been removing it as a liability on Peter’s finances.

Nobody wanted them here when they were here. And all of those were dead wrong. Gudjon had a whopping 1.75pts/game average. The all-time highest of all our managers. But they also left at the right time.

Nobody wanted them here when they were here. You’ve got to be joking they were welcomed with open arms. Things went to pot when their fortunes took a battering in the financial crash and they started to concentrate on their core businesses but initially they were a breath of fresh air and very popular more so than Coates had ever been in fact I think it’s fair to say he was hated.

Simpler times for sure. Not much of a pot to piss in all things considered but definitely felt like they put in every bit of money they could. They also gave us this lovely badge…
Bjarni was back the other week wasn’t he? Knows the clubsson.

Gudjon was a great guy. Came out to do charity bike ride from the Brit once. He didn't need to just heard about and came down on a Sunday morning.
Came in the shop a few times with players too. All the icelandics I met were great.
I watched a game with Gudjon in JS upper too. He came back to watch Bajrni I think. Proper down to earth great bloke.
