Capped at every level for England. It's his coahng he'll be remembered for though. One of his books explains his approach and it's so simple and understandable.
RIP.

Shocker. Seemed so full of life. RIP
Didn't know he'd been ill - he was so off the radar in recent years.
Great pundit too - used to love his back-and-forth with Jimmy Hill on England games.

Sad one for me, England manager for euros when I first started to get into football as a youngster.
RIP El Tel

A top level footballer, a top coach, could turn his hand to singing, co-wrote the Hazell books and TV series, a very media savvy guy when most footballers had very poor media skills. Quite a talented man. He also came across as affable and likeable, Euro 96 was unforgettable. RIP.

RIP El Tel
Picked up a failing Barcelona won the league and took them to the European Cup final This seems easy now with that club but it was different then, superb achievement
Perhaps he should have been England manager after Robson

You could tell that players enjoyed playing for him, a man manager. The Euro 96 Holland game is one of my favourite England games.

Was a great manager , really good in depth knowledge of the game, but not one to drone on about tactics and formations and the like.
Kept training ground to talk , strictly to the training ground and once off the training ground wanted himself and his players to enjoy life and have a laugh.
Was as happy going to a karaoke bar or night club with the players as taking a coaching session.
Maybe that was more suited to players 20 years ago than today? I don't know?
But he treated players as adults, as human beings and by and large , with the odd mishap reported in depth over the front 3 pages of the tabloids, worked well.

My first memories of an England team were when he was in charge. The Gazza goal, hammering Holland, Spain on penalties, was a shame he didn’t carry on instead of Hoddle. One of very few England managers I remember fondly.

He reminded me of a slimmer Terry Scott from the long running TV sitcom Terry and June.
I found him unusually relaxed and likable as football managers go.
RIP 'El Tel'

He was one of the first managers to break away from the sergeant Major style of managing. He said you had to be one of the lads but not quite. But you can be involved yet a bit detached.

Built an exciting team at Crystal Palace (team of the 80's?) and then QPR.
Ahead of his time and tactically very astute.
Great raconteur.
Always thought the powers that be at the fa perceived him as being a bit too spivish for their liking.
His teams played some great football.
RIP.

He reminded me of a slimmer Terry Scott from the long running TV sitcom Terry and June. I found him unusually relaxed and likable as football managers go. RIP 'El Tel' See what you mean there 😉.. Remember being at a Reading v Stoke match and June Scott walked out onto the centre circle at half time as she was a big Royals fan. Aside from all the Stoke fans singing 'WTFH are you' in typical fashion to these type of events, a mate of mine set off a rendition of 'wheres your Terry gone?'.. Genuinely not realising that Terry had died some years previous 🫣😬 Doh! Anyway I digress. RIP to El Tel. Would never have guessed he'd have been 80yrs of age & certainly didn't know he'd been ill.

RIP Mr Venables the last England coach to allow talented players to play with freedom. Great coach identified players with special qualities and allowed them to show it.

She was a huge footy fan, yep Thought was Wimbledon but you could be right but she would go to non league games etc I wonder if the vicar came into the dressing room when the players had no shorts on
