He got a pissy on with Ange when she asked about a left footed CB. I love the "I'm not stupid" bit well your not doing well in proving you're not Alex. For someone who’s notoriously coy on providing certain details, openly giving the entire league the blueprint to having success against Wilmot until we sign a left sided CB is just bizarre.

I know that the board won’t instruct the manager on how to set up but something, somewhere must be inherently wrong with how the club is run or directed, as to make every single manager lose the plot in the same manner. Is it the pressure from the board? Is it the patience of the fans that’s wearing extremely thin after years of shite? Something’s amiss for the same mistakes to keep happening regardless of who the manager is, unless they’re all just shit🤣 Can’t imagine it’s pressure from the owners, they’re as hands off as it gets but…it’s certainly very strange, unfathomable in fact. Perhaps you've just answered your own question. "they're as hands off as it gets.."

Yeah - my eyebrows were raised at "Ipswich aren't stupid. They showed Ben Wilmot onto his left foot, and then we couldn't really get over the half-way line"

It's all good news after good news isn't it.
We're playing shit and the team is decimated by injuries already.
And now the manager has lost the plot.

Once you turn it back onto the fans it only ends one way. Bye bye Mr Neil Well he hasn't done it yet so I wouldn't worry about it.

He needed to sign a consistent left back that’s the reason he’s playing 5 at the back right now just signing enda is piss poor Could have kept Fox, wasn't the greatest, certainly not the poorest, better than Rose and McNally, can play LB and left side CB Poor decision that's proving Was it their decision?

And I think the utter lack of self awareness from the clowns running the place is killing the club. And to be honest with each failed manager its gonna get harder and harder to get decent prospects. We are totally fucked unless someone grabs the club by the bollox and brings in a team of proper football people to shake it all down and set us on a new course. What does the club is Toxic actually mean though? He's a manager, paid a good salary, allowed to sign a new squad practically without interference it seems and can't do the job. The fault for me lies with one person. I know other managers failed before but we're not the first relegated club not to reach the expectations ...Villa chopped and changed regularly and managers failed there before promotion. Sheff Weds, Leeds , Sunderland have dropped further than us and took a long time to get it right ..well better, not right as still at our level . Is about us getting the right man and everything is in place for him but not happened.

For sure questions will have to be asked if performances don’t improve but like he said in the presser performances haven’t been that bad every game we’ve just not capitalised on the good performances. We haven’t but equally we can’t go conceding two goals plus every week and the complete lack of organisation goes way beyond a ‘gelling’ issue. Another couple of home bashings and it’s going to get ugly quickly. It looked pretty ugly on Sunday, booing during the game and the pundits absolutely trashing how our team was set out.

As for Wilmot having issues at left center back, what about coaching? What about helping him with his positioning, drills, what about practicing drills where he's playing it out on his left, with team mates taking positions to help?
Why can't we ever improve our players and improve levels of performance?

I don't know but I'd say we could have out offered QPR pretty easily I'd imagine Neil thought he'd get another left back and a left sided CB, but got neither, makes the last minute sale of Tymon and Taylor along with sanctioning loans for Baker and Okagbue (to a lesser degree) look very foolish and leaves under resourced until January

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-alex-neil-8783054....a young man mountain international was their top target, but he moved to another club in Europe. He said: "I’m not stupid. I've been doing this for a long time. We play out from the back and the one thing you always want for the back is balance. I understand when we go to Ipswich and Ipswich are not stupid, they show Ben Wilmot onto his left foot and then we struggle to get across the half-way line. I understand it more than anybody else. "The simple fact is I've got to deal with where we are and what we've got. There's no point in crying over it. Of course we looked for a left centre-back." We play out from the back? What the fuck has he been watching?

Perhaps you've just answered your own question. "they're as hands off as it gets.." You’re going to have to join the dots for me here I’m afraid. Maybe they don't put enough pressure on the manager.. Maybe the new manager walks into a club thinking he's jimmy Jesus and is given carte blanche then shites himself after his honeymoon period. Talking the talk with no taps on the shoulder from the hierarchy. Just a thought... There must be something that makes them batshit barmy and tosspotty after a few months. Said couple weeks ago that the club has made two very bad decisions in the window. Signing Wes and selling Josh. Love to know who did that.

I don’t think either of those decisions are necessarily bad tbh. With the managers it seems like they’re almost consumed by the pressure immediately if anything, I don’t get at all why they’re so quick to deviate from what’s worked for them before.

Wow that statement is wrong on so many levels. First it is arrogant . Secondly where are our passing out from the back drills cuz I ain’t seen one yet . And thirdly showing wimot on his left foot ? Really ? U r the coach sort it . Ever heard of a step over ? And while I’m at it have any of our forwards ever done a proper step over ? I’m not talking of waving your legs over the ball in a stationary position I mean on the run . Arnie was brilliant at it . Anthony Gordon at Newcastle is brilliant at it . Coach them . Is that beyond you ?

If he's not stupid why did he sign two shit right sided centre backs with limited experience in this league and no left footed centre back? How hard can it be?
Then he plays all three of them together, three woefully out of form centre backs, in a formation that requires confident centre backs who want to play out and join in with midfield and attack.

Yet again some of the comments on here have clearly come before people have listened to the press conference and just gone off snippets of text released. What AN has actually said is in his opinion nobody would say the formation played against Huddersfield was wrong as it worked but they can question if it was the right formation to play in the last game as we didn’t win. He then goes on to say he has no issues with people saying that and that they most probably are right! To me that does not sound at all like him having a pop at the fans but as what is actually said does not fit in with the hate AN narrative it is taken out of context and used as a stick to beat him with. It amazes me how many times our fans turn on our manager and call for his head when things are going poorly. I’m not at all happy with the last game, our current position or the fact we’ve been stuck at the bottom end of the division for so long but neither do I agree we should jump on the manager our band wagon when the season is still early days. Let’s see how things settle over the coming months and if at Christmas we’re still performing poorly then revisit our options. I don’t want him sacked yet either but another 2-3 performances like that and he’s going to be on the brink at least isn’t he? He’ll have nobody to blame for it but himself as well. I’m surprised you were so upbeat before kick off Sunday. You’re clearly someone who knows their football and talks plenty of sense. Didn’t you think we’d get twatted by Hull once you saw the teamsheets?

So yes there is something else somewhere in the club thats causing the problem. Atmosphere the club create? I don't know. Maybe like pubs, some have a good vibe and some don't, Stoke appears to have a bad vibe. Who knows.

Too many of his statements are a man trying to justify himself . Rather like mad Nath and even TP did it as he was being moved on . I think Trouserdog assessment was spot on and he’s a reasoned guy . If out of all this song backs are ditched once and for all the fans have pushed him into a decision he should have reached months ago
