Without the family backing we are bust , in administration or liquidation sure they need some help in making these key managerial decisions but there are no more willing owners in all the divisions more capable yes but more willing no .

The whole “who would take over them” question. What a load of bollocks. How for one second would any of us know? Wrexham had Ryan Reynolds. Brum had Tom Brady. If I suggested Tiger Woods, I would get laughed out of town but it’s not ridiculous based on the two above. It’s a fucking stupid question. There would be someone. And that’s all that matters. Your message got me thinking, imagine Tom Cruise rocking up at the Bet365 holding the scarf aloft in front of the Boothen End! He'd be entering the Danger Zone alright!

The thing is that the games moved on so much over the last 2 to 3 years that managers like Alex Neil, Martin o'Neil and in a way Neil Warnock are little bit outdated in their methods and how they like to play football. I would put under that umbrella managers like Sam Allardyce who's been cack in his last two jobs. We need the board just to have a little bit of forward thinking in regards management instead sticking to an old & tried management appointment (Nathan Jones excluded) Personally, if we are to make a change I would go all out for Kieran McKenna because his teams play with a clear identity. To be honest, Liam Rosenior done a fine job since taking over at Hull City and maybe one to watch We had a Manager who created a clear identity, was sucessful and he was sacked

The board really aren’t the issue, at least not to the point where people should be wanting to get rid of them. They’ve definitely made some errors but on the face of it some of the managerial appointments were reasonable decisions at the time. Rowett had previously shown he’s capable of being in the promotion mix at Derby, Jones was an exciting, highly regarded up and coming manager. Neil’s CV suggested he should have done a lot better than what he has done so far. There’s no guarantee anybody new would be able to pick the right manager either. So it's just bad luck? The common denominator is the owners. They have presided over a shit show since we finished 13th in PL in 2016. There is either something wrong with the recruitment process or something wrong with the way they run the club. We can't just keep blaming luck.

We are not a sexy big city club and are not going to be attracting Saudi/ Qatari / Abu Dhabi mega investment.
How many billionaire families can there possibly be in stoke ? Who want to own stoke city football club and can easily cope with its debts and trading performance, no bother.
We badly need them to have better judgement with their next managerial appointment.
But they are probably uniquely placed in being one of the few ( only ?) Families in stoke that can afford to own the club and would want to.

And why does a potential new owner have to be from Stoke? Whilst I agree that SCFC isn't that much of an attractive proposition (largely due to the vast amount of debt we're saddled with as a result of The Family's fuckheaded running of the club in recent years), I simply don't buy the argument that there's nobody in the world who'd be willing to buy a mid-sized, reasonably well-supported, not lived up to its potential football club. In an ideal world, the Coates would admit that they don't have the skills and knowledge to effectively run a football club in the modern era and appoint an executive board comprising of people who do to run it for them. However, it's obvious that they lack the self-awareness and humility to do this, so we're either going to have to put up with the shitshow and accept that as a club we're only going one way (clue: it's the opposite of up), or hope that they're willing to sell up and hope that someone or some entity with the money and wherewithal takes a punt on us. Personally, I'm fucking furious with our so-called wonderous owners - we had it all and they fucked it up spectacularly (and continue to do so). However, for some reason, they're getting off scott-free? Is this a case of the forelock-tugging 'knowing your place' attitude and staggering lack of ambition that seems to infect this city and its inhabitants playing out in real-time? I'm not sure.

You are right that they have messed up big time, but it's hard to see who else might want Stoke city and be able to afford it. Their failure and the debts they have ran up and made it even less appealing than it was to begin with. I totally agree that they don't seem to know how to to run Stoke city, but they have made owning it a proposition for those with deep pockets , who can accept losses running into millions, no bother.

With mention of the board noticed Tony Scholes was sat next to Peter at the game on Sunday, guessing he was a guest as it was a day off for him rather than him returning in any capacity but be interested to know his thoughts after the demise that played out in front of us!

The only problem with our owners/ board is they have become a soft touch for mediocre managers who know they'll get a fortune even for failure....they need to bring in a non-football enforcer who can help spot when the axe should fall from a more cold and objective perspective That 'only problem' is a massive fucking flaw though. They think they are 'football people' (whatever that means) but they aren't. They clearly don't know the game - giving mega money to the wrong British people is an awful awful strategy. They've lucked out with Macari, Pulis and Hughes over the years. That's an atrocious strike rate. Football people are now owners like Brighton or Brentford have. Ones that have a plan and who don't have an inherent mistrust of anyone not from these Isles. They need to realise their shortcomings (I doubt whether that is a common trait in billionaires) and get someone in to run their club. The Coates are clearly not up to the task. In what way are Brighton and Brentford football people? One is a poker expert who made his money gambling on sports events. The other made his money by founding a statistical advice company for gamblers having made his money in the Asian gambling market. Benham started off in banking before he was employed by Bloom's betting company. CV s don't sound too different from the Coates family.

It’s way more complicated than simply pointing the finger at the owners isn’t it. Even so we’ve recently undertaken a massive restructure of the club, highlighted by the appointments of Ricky Martin and Jared Dublin so the way the club is being run and how targets are identified etc but this isn’t a simple quick fix and more time is needed before we can properly judge the impact of these changes. From the managerial side of things is Neil carries on like he is then he’ll rightly lose his job, again though with all the recent changes that have taken place in terms of playing staff it’s still a bit too early to write off Neil at this point.

The same actions - British manager given total control - expecting different results is the definition of insanity. I do lay that at the owners door. They done it since 1986 and have had 3, possibly 4 successes (Mills saved us massively when we could have gone through the leagues). The strategy of throwing shit at a wall until some sticks is a failure.

The issue is John Coates. He's the one who needs to take a back seat and get someone in who can run a club properly.
His record selecting managers is abysmal.

Brighton and Brentford are owned by people who beat the gambling system, we are owned by people that have made an absolute fortune by putting high street bookies on the internet.
