McQueen is the King of the PBM. As well as the aforementioned 'Escape' (1963), and Papillon (1973), he also broke out of prison in The Getaway* (1972), Nevada Smith (1965) and Tom Horn (1980) *Had 'help' from Ali McGraw Love The Getaway Peckinpah wasn't it? Yes, a real Man's man, and a meeting of the minds with McQueen. while talking about prison break movies and Sam, I have to also pay tribute to the scene where Billy the Kid breaks out of prison with Slim Pickens in Pat Garrett. The Dylan soundtrack and Pickens acting makes it part of movie history

Hopefully it will make a good prison break movie in a few years (needs time) There hasnt been one in ages Best prison break Movies (reverse order):- 5) Great Escape 4) Escape from Alcatraz 3) Papillon 2) The Defiant Ones 1) Two-Way Stretch Honorable mention foe Sean Connery breaking Wayne Sleep out of prison in the First Great Train Robbery, but its not a prison break movie. It does however, have Lesley Ann Downey in a basque How does Shawshank Redemption not make your list? One of the greatest films of all time never mind the prison break section. It's good but not as good as those 5,no? Different styles of films of course I quite liked Escape From Pretoria with Daniel Radcliffe, not as good as these films but worked well

Can't read this story without thinking about the Merle Haggard classic, music doesn't get any better than this...

I suspect this chap is on borrowed time. The police are actually doing something (They do love a high profile manhunt) and in fairness, when they mobilise like this, they usually catch their man.

I’ll be amazed if he isn’t already halfway to Iran Increased border security? Police everywhere? I'm actually convinced they are going to catch this tit. If he makes it to Iran, then it will drain what little faith I have left in this country. We will be the laughing stock of the world... which we basically already are, but we love fucking our own citizens in the process.

Can't they get those people off the TV programme after him, they always seem to get those people on the run.
It's not really fixed at all ...

Loads more police helicopters last night. This time around the river rather than the park.

Several sightings of Dare Dan in Chiswick overnight.
Sounds like the game is well and truly up for our boyo.

Do you think it would be possible for one to get away with a high profile crime these days? In the age of mass CCTV I think it is nigh on impossible.

Do you think it would be possible for one to get away with a high profile crime these days? In the age of mass CCTV I think it is nigh on impossible. Not really. London has more CCTV than any other major city in the world. England as a whole is under extreme levels of surveillance, rightly or wrongly. They rarely have any problem identifying drunken football fans having handbags in the street. If the police can't catch this guy with the resources they have at their disposal, then it proves just how useless and incompetent they really are. Like I said, I think they'll catch him. When they are organised and motivated, they're normally capable of getting the job done.

Hope it doesn't go the full Raul Moat.

There was a (legally released) ex-prisoner interviewed on R4 today, he knew the escapee and said he's intent on becoming famous. Yep, they don't seem to think he poses any great physical threat tp the public do they? Hence why I came up with the 'fantasist' word which was a little flippent I admit, but not without substance. No you certainly wouldn’t feel afraid if you saw him. If I said what he looked like to me I’d only get banned again.

If it was the Iranian state they’ll get him out of the country with ease. He seems worthless to them without being in a position to provide them with information though, do their loyalties run that deep?

Hidden aboard a private plane or vessel you’d think. I would have thought it was extremely easy to leave the country undetected if you have the means.

I know he's had to keep his head down but he'd have been better making the biggest burst of distance in the immediate hours following his escape, before the public are notified and completely know what he looked like. He seems to have lay low from a very early stage hence making limited progress, thus being pretty hemmed in with limited in his options. Wonder if the 'Hunted' team were engaged in behind the scenes operations in their attmepts to find him, let the cat see the mouse type of thing 😉🤣

And still the undisputed hide and seek world champion, Raul Moat. Deserves an award for hanging on to the wagon for a couple of miles, however this attempt was week in comparison to the good old boys over in Calais. All in all piss poor, maybe he was hopeful his mates in Iran were going to save him once he was out but the sad truth he as much use to them as a chocolate fire guard .

With no phone or money he was always going to struggle. I’m amazed he didn’t target members of the public and rob them. His actions strike me as someone wanting to prove a point and embarrass the authorities than to get away. If he wanted to do a proper job he should have watched this first

For someone who did well to get out he just doesn’t seem to have known what to do once he was on the outside.

You can get to Crewe from Euston and everywhere on the way for nowt these days with a bit of cunning. I must have gone home half a dozen times this year and not been checked for my ticket once. I always refund my ticket and get half back.
