Doing a programme on BBC3 called 'Boot Dreams'. Set up a school coaching drop-out ex-pro footballers, who have lost their way & are trying to get back into the game. Mention of his time with us.

For whatever reason the mention of the Gift the main thing I associate with him is having loads of kids. How many did he end up with?

Brilliant story on one of the Stoke podcasts at weekend.
Some Watford fan used to do landscaping. Turned out one day he was planting some trees for Gifton. Middle of November. Freezing cold.
Finished up and Gifton came out to have a look. Bit of an awkward silence then Gifton says, “I really like it but can’t we get ones with leaves on?”. The Watford fan then has to explain how trees work 😂😂😂
I didn’t really do it justice. Worth a listen.

We beat Wigan 1-0 about 20 years ago at the JJB. Our bet was 1-0 and Gifton to score...Won a few quid that day.

If you watch the programme(s) you'll see that he has a wonderful way of talking to the drop-out pro's to get them on-side, so to speak. He has a very friendly nature, & seems to be a lovely person. He is in charge of a team that work with the ex-players. Some of the players look worth signing.

First home game anyway possibly . Must check who it was against. We insisted on them changing the run out music a bit tongue in cheek for the game to our own and fair play they did. I remember someone spotting it on here at the time. Did he score on his home debut? Couldn't tell you tbh but the game I was saying were Gifton scored was 5th Feb 2005, just checked and Clattenberg was the ref. Hill, Taggart, Clarke, Hall in the team.

He scored the winner on my 21st birthday. 4th December 2004 away at Watford ironically. Scrappy game with him getting a scrappy winner but I was pissed and very happy with life. This December it's my 40th

I remember him as being quite decent with almost a one in three goal scoring record over two seasons or so.
Hard to believe it was over 20 years ago when we signed him; seems like yesterday

Some of the stories I could tell about GNW..! 🫣🤣
I benefitted from a good few years of away comp tickets from Gifton.. Top lad but he used to love partying as much as he did playing footy! GNW & Johnny Halls together was a combination!

I remember when he had his shit spells I used to sometimes call him Giftless Noel-Edmonds . In reality he was actually a very good player whose career had been derailed by a serious knee injury which had left him with arthritis. He tended to be better at the beginning and end of the season when the weather was warmer and struggled a bit in the cold weather because of his condition. One of those dogs home players that Pulis used to specialise in.

Watched the first episode of this earlier- it's excellent.
Interesting to see how mentality is often the deciding factor in whether a player makes it or not. Many have got the talent but can't handle the dedication required or lack the maturity to understand what an opportunity they have.

Was it gifton who had a row with a fan at Newcastle Town? It certainly was. I was standing near the guy in question, he was giving Akibiyi dogs abuse all first half and Gifton 'limped' over on the way off the pitch at half time and told him quite aggressively to shut up and that Ade was doing his best and to get behind the players, he did look really pissed off tbh. The guy was fairly quiet 2nd half.
