Remember they hav signed McCallister from Brighton too this summer. So Brighton hav had over £150m from them for two players It’s sort of embarrassing, they are their new Southampton. And Liverpool are the new Chelsea (of last season and this).

It's a huge test of their recruitment team now. It's one thing going through the process once and finding these gems, selling them on for a huge profit but it's another thing entirely in trying to replace them a second time around. This is where most teams come unstuck at PL level and it's fair to say that when this happened to Southampton it was the beginning of the end. They lost a number of players to the big 6 over a 12-18 month period and never recovered. I'll watch with great interest. They've done it already ... Don't forget that Caicedo was the replacement for Bissouma!

That’s quite a chunk of change. It’ll be interesting to see if they can replace those players. I had forgotten Bissouma even existed and he was getting the same Caicedo is now 12 months ago. I think he'll prove how good he is under Ange at Spurs this season.

That is absolutely sensational. They could easily go out and spend £10 million for each new diamond they seem to unearth. Probably got the new Caiceido and MacAllister lined up. Seriously impressive stuff. As for Liverpool, when you are desperate, you are desperate.

And they're going to easily treble the money they spent on Estupinan in the next 12 months.
The recruitment team that Tony Bloom has brought in, has essentially secured the club's future for many, many years.
He's even made money on his manager's!

What a contrast between the big money League and ourselves. I don't know if it is obligatory, or just boasting, to announce that you have paid over a hundred million pounds for a player or what. Why can't they follow our own polite example and describe all the transfers as "an undisclosed fee."

I never want to hear Klopp complaining that they cant compete financially with the likes of Man City after spunking £150mill on two players this summer. Man City's academy is bankrolling most of their spend these days, they've sold so many players for good fees. This is really smart from Manchester City, they have also included buy back clauses in case any of them go and become world beaters

Jurgen Klopp on Man Utd signing Pogba for €100m in 2016:
"The day that this is football, then I'm not in a job anymore.
"Other clubs can spend more money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I had that money."
Today, Klopp has signed Caicedo for £110m (€127m).

Chelsea trying to hijack it still.
Apparently offering Brighton the chance to sign Tyler Adams in the process if they allow them to sign Caicedo.

That’s quite a chunk of change. It’ll be interesting to see if they can replace those players. Cucurella - Signed Estupiñán for 1/3 of the price last summer and easily a better player. Caicedo & MacAllister - Dahoud for a free from Dortmund a good replacement with vast experience at 27. Moder played a lot last season before injury but not same level as the two. Probably need another signing. Yasin Ayari could be a surprise breakthrough. Bissouma - Replaced last summer with Caicedo / MacAllister. = ££££. Trossard - Enciso came on the scene after January and looks a real prospect and will have a serious part to play, Mitoma also seemingly fit in with ease. Simon Agingra another who could have a breakthrough season. Sanchez - Became 2nd choice for De Zerbi back end of season for Steele, signed a young Belgian Verbruggen from Anderlecht who could be a starter or revert back to Steele if he's not ready. Burn - Replaced by Colwill last season who will be a big miss. Have 4 options at CB, Dunk, Webster, Igor, Van Hecke. Igor the left footed replacement for Colwill, big shoes to fill. Maupay - Didn't take much to replace. Ferguson, Pedro better players. Ben White sold for 50m+, Lamptey, Gross played RB too Veltman been a solid option there. Don't think Brighton will do as well as last season with Europe + losing 3 top players. 9-13th most likely but could be closer to top half again with some more additions.

Seriously impressive stuff. As for Liverpool, when you are desperate, you are desperate. It’s all part of their process for growth. They sold Bissouma for £25M and bought Caicedo for £4.3M. Now with this colossal sale of Caicedo, they can afford to pay more for better quality. The overall squad can build on last season’s finish if they recruit well. In terms of paying the highest wages, they need to expand into foreign markets and build their fan base.

The market in 2023 is very different for transfer fees compared to 2016 though (for the big clubs at least, probably hasn't changed so much in the Championship).
And he hasn't signed Caicedo yet, it may not happen if his heart is set on Chelsea (maybe because of Poch? and London? not exactly the best time to be joining them though given recent seasons).
But 110m for a player signed for 4.5m just two years ago is absolutely insane!
