Gordon Banks. As a youngster I worshiped him. His first home game at the Vic was vs Leicester, his previous club, Dad treated us both to a Butler Street Stand seat and we were positioned in line with the Boothen End penalty box. Couldn’t believe I was so close the the legend. Alan Hudson was next best for me.

Bruce Grobbelaar I was shocked being honest that he'd fancy a loan with us, one of the highest profile players I'd seen for quite some time.

Alan Hudson. I had a paper round at the time and used to be at the paper shop for 6:00am when the papers were delivered. At 6:30 I was back at my house (it was more or less on the way to where my round started) where I woke my parents up to show them the newspaper article that we were going to sign Hudson. I don't think my Dad was over-impressed to be woken up that early!

Duberry, De Goey, Kenwyne, Tuncay, Crouch, Bojan, Shaq. Recently Delap and Pearson probably.
Must admit really looking forward to if we sign Vidigal

Kenwyne Jones.
At the time he seemed like perfect player for our team.
And despite being remembered as a “useless c*nt”, he was part of our most successful side in the last half century.
Admittedly he wasn’t as good as I hoped.

Alan Hudson. I can remember talking about it in the playground at school as a young kid and couldn't believe it was happening. Huddy is still to this day the best footballer I have ever seen live....... I did watch Barcelona v Valencia with Messi playing but we were on the very last row of seats and the players looked like subbuteo figures from up there so it feels like it doesn't really count!!!

As a kid in the 90s - basically if it was someone I'd ever heard of. Pesch and Kevin Keen are memorable ones but Grobelaar on loan was huge for me, I was massively excited to see him in the flesh. 1st Pulis era - Greenacre was very exciting at the time, young and prolific at a lower level, we were excited to see what he could do in the Champo Iceland - was always exciting when we signed a new unknown Icelander to see what they could do Pulis Champo - Berger, Hendrie, Shawcross Pulis Prem - Ethers and Pennant, Crouchy, definitely Palacios. Kitson Les - BMX Not doing post-Les, it's too depressing Got to be Shaq overall I think. The wider football-supporting world genuinely couldn't believe we'd pulled that off.

Steins return. Lee Hendrie Patrick Berger Bojan But, at the end of the day, it’ll be years before we’re signing big European names like Shaqiri at the peak of their powers again.

Also, Ian Cranson. I think that was the first time in my lifetime we’d broken our transfer record and that summer promised so much. Bertie, Cranson, Ian Scott - the thick end of a million quid. And our record signing wore a headband and the strip looked a bit pink. Halcyon days. Promotion was a forgone conclusion.

This.... and didnt mark walters come virtually the same time. I remember standing on the butler st paddock rubbing my eyes in disbelief as i had heard nothing about it because i lived out of the local paper circulation area and of course the lack of internet back then but im.pretty sure they bith came out of the blue I also thought we had hit the jackpot with Angola and latterly Bangoura too !sadly one broken leg and a sat nav that didnt find airports soon dampened them lol

Grobbelar was as a rock the city signing.
Banksie was also huge.
But no one beats the return of Stan.
