Tomorrow morning it begins, and the first match out is New Zealand-Norway.
The World Championship in Football for Women.
So what do you think?
I know England miss some players, but I'll go with Sweden-England in the final.
🤠⚽

Seems like a missed opportunity to have the PL start before the tournament is over.

Think England will just come up short, they seem to of gone off the boil in last few games plus the players they are missing, we'll see.

It looks like these are the teams with a chance of winning it...
USA 13/5 Spain 9/2 England 9/2 Germany 8 Australia 10 France 12 Sweden 20 Netherlands 20 Brazil 25 Japan 33 Canada 33 Norway 50 Denmark 66
Everyone else is 250/1 or worse.
I won't see much live, the matches are in the working day.

I'm going to say it and I know its unpopular
I'm not going to watch it and I'm not bothered who wins the women's World Cup
I'm a bit tired of the BBC ramming ladies football down my throat, its not just football its now cricket too.
I love watching football and listening to ex pros like Le-Tissier, Neville, Keane and so on, and I'm sorry but I can't do with listening to Karen Carney, Alex Scott etc
I fully appreciate those that want to watch and get involved and maybe I should just turn over to another channel, maybe its just me

Yes the magnificent Danni Wyatt, a credit to the city. I’ve seen her play against blokes at Meakins and she’s got some serious talent. Scored a hundred if I remember rightly in a T20 game. Had a quick chat with her and she was lovely too

Not been capped though which is a shame as a good batter

Good luck to the lionesses and I hope they bring it home.
I won’t be watching though, it’s a comparatively very poor standard - I’d confidently say the Buxton or Congleton’s men’s teams would comfortably beat the women’s world champions - and I wouldn’t watch Buxton on tv if I’m honest. But I fully back people getting behind it and getting stuck in - and I actually wish I could get excited but I feel no connection at all.
Side issue - I get football notifications on the Sky app. Currently it’s all women’s football. I think Sky should separate the men’s and women’s when you select sports to get updates on - because for me they’re about as similar as golf and boxing.

It's amusing seeing people here exposed to the scale of football compared to other sports.
Ticket sales have been sluggish in New Zealand. They really need a good result v Norway to generate interest.
I can see this thread becoming one of them where lots of people take time to post to passionately say they aren't interested...like when the England blokes play. Gender equality in practice 😁😁

I think it's unlikely we'll reach the finals, simply too many star players have either retired or have had to hit the treatment table. It won't go unnoticed that the recent golden boot winner is missing. It's a shame as this is meant to be the showcase event.
