That's only an insurance risk isn't it? If the scar tissue looks bad on a scan it can happen. We couldn't insure Demba Ba, but others could. The Demba Ba comparison is very fair. The trouble is you know, being Stoke, his ankle will explode on his first training session. Buuuuuut. If we can get him at a damaged goods discount price on a shortish contract with the prospect of extensions then he might still be worth the gamble. Not that I think he will come but just a thought. Unlike many clubs the Coates could underwrite the fee and I'm sure wouldn't impact ffp.

Ba went on loan or pay as you play originally after he failed his medical with us. He'd also failed his previous medical. We tried to then take him on loan but think his agent was a bit put out I thought he was sold to WHU on a pay as you play. Then he released himself on a contract clause. Was pay as you play, yes think you're right. We tried to loan after the medical. I think West Ham had tried to design him before he came to us , can't remember but his previous move to a German club fell through for the same reasons we had.

Lol, oh well. He’s well and truly fucked medically. That's only an insurance risk isn't it? If the scar tissue looks bad on a scan it can happen. We couldn't insure Demba Ba, but others could. I thought the Ba thing was the amount of risk we were taking, he went for very little after we walked away.

I thought the Ba thing was the amount of risk we were taking, he went for very little after we walked away. We were at £7.1m agreed subject to medical, WHU was undisclosed but I'd expect less after we turned it down. Which is why I think of this deal being similar.

Good for him - they can afford to take the risk -we don’t need him……yet

This farce of 'failed medical/passed medical' shows up the utter fallacy of social media as a means of informing - one could place more credence in the front page of ISVESTIA or PRAVDA! The loonies that soak up the crap that's spouted deserve the egg on their faces lol

£8m rising to £12m according to The Athletic.
Very surprised they’ve paid that. No wonder Alex Neil decided against it.

Crazy fee
£5 million for BTA though, might have been worth it.
Would have given us more muscle attitude and goals.

Nice announcement taking the piss out of Football Insider's nonsense Ha ha, FI made to look like complete numpties with that tweet. Absolutely delighted he has signed elsewhere. If he scores goals aplenty, he has defied medical logic and good luck to Saints. We simply couldn’t take that risk and I think Sunderland will be laughing with that fee.
