Happy 77th birthday Jimmy.
Up there with Alan Hudson as the best footballer I have seen play for the Mighty Potters.

Happy birthday Sir Jimmy. I was lucky enough to attend most of the games shown on that video. Some of those Greenhoff goals were pure magic. I can't imagine what sort of transfer fee Jimmy would command today.

Born the same year as me - just 2 months later. There the resemblance ends! I can still remember his first goal for Stoke - scored in front of the Boothen End of course. Formed a great partnership with John Ritchie. Happy days - sadly brought to an end when the roof blew off the Butler Street stand resulting in his sale to Man United to bring in some cash. Apparently he cried when he was told we were selling him. Lovely man, lovely player - wish we had someone like him in the side now.
Happy Birthday Jimmy.

Just about got to see him play for us
My first few games as a Stoke fan aged 8 were 1976-77 when my Dad took me along to the Vic
He instantly became my hero and I was gutted when he was sold part-way through the season but at least I saw him a few times

Too young to see him play but Im guessing those that did wont have seen better in the red and white than him, Huddy and Banksy since the 70s
Clearly loves the club aswell
Happy birthday fella

Jimmy played for us and didn’t play for England. His brother, no disrespect at all but even he knew Jimmy was the talented one, played for ManU and did. Very very odd.

Don’t understand how Howard Kendall never got a cap either Also Dennis Mortimer and Steve Bruce. But Jimmy is the worst travesty I don't think Dennis Mortimer's big black beard did him any favours. Gave the impression he was an absolute carthorse of a player although he was a bit better than that.

Oh Sir James I loved you so Especially in your nightie. When the moonlight flits across your tits. O Jesus Christ Almighty.
Great to see some footage from a different angle than I saw.
Thousands of hours of time could be condensed in just watching the lowtimes.

I remember Jimmy, a real class act.
A friend of mine, a Stoke fanatic, never went to see Stoke after they sold him - he was that annoyed with the club!

Simply the Best
Atmosphere in the 70s when Greenhoff played was so so special.Crass decision to sell him should have left the stand roof off
Revie arrogant man wouldnt pick Jimmy for England, simple reason he had sold him when he was Leeds manager

I really enjoyed watching that video. Stoke could actually play then. They could pass, shoot on target and head a ball. As for Greenhoff, he was God. We all wanted to be him, to look like him. Happy birthday!

Don't think I've ever experienced anything like the collective anger of Stoke fans for weeks after we sold Jimmy.
Christ, it was an unpleasant time.

Started supporting stoke in 1970. He and Gordon Banks were my all time heroes. I was gutted. Brilliant player. Though Arnie was better. Tin hat on.
