Do we really think next season will be any better? The past 5/6 seasons we’ve gotten progressively worse. Since the sacking of Mark Hughes, we’ve had a succession of managers who have failed to deliver and yet when they’ve moved on to other clubs some of them have been reasonably successful, which begs the question, why are Stoke City such a hard club to manage? Is it poor recruitment by the Chairman and the board, as to who they bring in as the manager? Is it poor recruitment of players the appointed managers brings in? Is it the apathy of the home support( of which, I’m afraid to say, I’m one) Or is it the fabled Gypsy curse. Answers on a post-card please. Another thing which I don’t think helps the cause, is our transfer policy. Why oh why, do the club leave it until the last day of the window, to bring new players in. We have a habit of chasing players, who have no intention of signing for us. It’s time we started to play hard ball with these money grabbing fuckers. Put an offer on the table, tell them accept or forget it and move on. There has to be a massive recruitment drive this summer, by the Chairman and especially manager, who ever that might be. We have to hit the transfer window running. If we don’t, as sure as eggs are fucking eggs, it’ll be another season of dire, apathetic dross.

Without the purples patch of games in March we would be going down. Get rid of AN now. I’d bet a lot of money that next season we finish between 55 and 65 points and our “true” attendances are around the 14000 mark. Great progress

4/10.
He gets a huge (possibly undeserved) let off for inheriting the unbalanced squad he did and with the summer rebuild that was always going to happen, he has a chance to start afresh. However, given the lack of quality in this division, I won't be particularly forgiving of the "it will take a while to get everyone to gel" excuse, should it be rolled out. He's had a poor start to managing Stoke City if he's completely honest with himself, and needs to start next season well to keep the wolves from the door. I know we need some stability and I'm not suggesting he's sacked immediately after a poor run, but it's time for Alex Neil to show the supporters that he can build something.

I think what sums up our season is just mediocrity apart from a short ray of sunshine followed by absolute shite, bottom on form over the last 5 matches. Neil needs to up his game as much as the players. No free pass for him, good and great managers get a tune out of the players they have and improve them and the team. Neil is a mixed bag in this respect with quite a few regressing.

Seems as though everyone thinks roughly the same, if anything I was overly generous! We say it every season, but this summer really is massive

Is there an instance where waiting until the last day has impacted us massively badly? Not sure I can think of one. I'm sure we try and do our business as soon as we can, some targets don't become available until late in the day. There's a million and one bigger issues with our recruitment over the last decade or so than that imo.

4.5/10 Inconsistent performances Mid table mediocrity when it could've been a relegation battle
I have faith AN will turn it round next season and be top 8 minimum

We have to hit the transfer window running. If we don’t, as sure as eggs are fucking eggs, it’ll be another season of dire, apathetic dross. The underlying reason is we had completely dysfunctional, expensive squad when we got demoted and made the necessary demolition and rebuild even harder by over spending in the first season in a futile attempt to go straight back up. The last 5/6 seasons are only puzzling if you don't get just how fucked we were when we got relegated and just how hard it is to gut your squad, slash the wage bill and stay in the Championship. The fact we are still in this division and haven't been hit with a points deduction is actually a massive achievement. It's been crap but it was never going to be anything else regardless of the manager. This summer should be the turning point - we've survived, have got rid of the dead wood and will have a budget to compete at the top end. It's the first season since relegation when the expectations of fans will have the slightest chance of being met on the pitch.

An utterly atrocious home record that is inexcusable.
Most managers heads would be on the block with folk baying for blood.
However- the away form has been tremendous and the fact is the January business- when they were all on the pitch for a spell - has saved us from relegation.
The fact I’m pleased about that shows the depth to which we have sunk.
In a season where teams we hammered away from home may get in the playoffs it just goes to show how bad we are overall!
The lack of consistency and inability to break a team down who sit in a low block is a problem we’ve had for some time.
17 home wins in 2 season is fucking laughable though.
