Nowhere near good enough out of 10. We are in a position where we don't know if our manager is good enough either.. something I blame fully on the ownership for the bizarre timing of O'Neil's sacking. Neil was then brought in without sufficient time to effect change in the summer window or to make the structural changes that the owners always allow a manager to make.. so all we have to go on is his 'winter window' which was ok. We really shouldn't be going into a summer rebuild with a manager that's been here a season without really knowing if he's got the tools to do the job needed. It's a poor way to run things. Sorry I disagree. The one thing we have learned this season is that we have an exceptionally good leader in the manager’s position who is tactically aware for this division and is a nimble operator in the transfer market. Is that enough? Time will tell. The rebuild we face might be too much even for a TP, Waddo combined clone (imagine Waddo with a baseball cap shouting ‘go arn Jon’). A huge summer lies ahead but the first part of 2023 has left me more optimistic than at any time since Ryan sat down on the pitch at Leicester and the decline began. My point about the timing of his appointment stands, as far as I'm concerned.

A big fat D. It's been a huge disappointment increased by the shit that will compete in the playoffs who we haven't been able to match consistently on the pitch. I hope and I am sure I will erase season 22/23 from memory quickly. Very generous rating for the current manager. Let's not forget that the last window was heading for a disaster until Pearson, a target just about everyone on here could come up with, on the last day salvaged it. No left back,no target man, a crocked CB to replace the outgoing Souttar,a keeper with a dodgy fitness record to compete with a keeper not up to Championship standard. The less said about Celina the better. I am not sure about Neils transfer successes, but January wasn't one and let's not forget he was fired along with his buddy Ricky Matin at Norwich on the back of poor recruitment. Let's hope these two can do something special in the next window after years of appalling recruitment.

2.5/10
To have been in this god awful division for 5 years now and not have even finished in the top half is absolutely embarassing.
Summer is critical because we’re going to get relegated on this current trajectory.

The timing if Neil's appointment wrote off this season and the season has been worse than it could have been because he inherited a squad he couldn't get a tune out of. The encouraging thing is that his loans have demonstrated he can put together a team that can compete with the best in this league. We've got money to spend and Neil has pretty much got the opportunity to build his squad from scratch in the summer. Looks to me like a good number in the squad have tuned out and won't be around next year and as a result the end of the season has been painful to watch.
Staying up:10 Actual performances: 2 (apart from the purple patch) Reasons to be optimistic: 8
Horrible season that fortunately will be very easy to forget.

It's been woeful absolutely woeful.
From keeping MON to the underwhelming appointment of Neil. I know we had a purple patch but Neils' record overall is piss poor.
Our home form is embarrassing and thank Christ our away form has been decent.
Is Neil the man to sort it? Do I trust him to spend our money? To both I'm really not sure.
We need to get the spine right and take it from there.
To think we haven't troubled the top ten let alone the play offs since we came down is unbelievable and is down to mismanagement and dreadful recruitment.
Overall grade for this season. Big fat D.
Must do better!!

I would have done better myself.

I think Alex Neil seems to be getting off very lightly, all built around him talking a good game and the timing of his appointment. He needs to turn the talk into action and what happens from now on, is ALL on him. I pray he succeeds but have yet to be convinced that he will do. Fingers well and truly crossed. It's a D from me and without the 5 game purple patch it would have been a deserved E. As my school report frequently said " Must do better".

I don't think people have been wrong in saying that this season was dire, but he does have the excuse that they weren't his players. I don't think that he can rely on that next year. We just have to hope and pray for the best. I wish I was as confident as some of his fan club.

Enourmsly disappointed with how it's gone, completely failed to improve the existing players but encouraged by the loan signings he's made and that out of the blue purple patch Big summer and will need a reasonable start Could get ugly quickly Or it could be a good season Really got an open mind atm

I think Lord B's assessment is pretty much spot on, I think there were other games, apart from the purple patch where we showed positive signs as well. We have lost by the odd goal on too many occasions, turn those round and with a productive window, I think top 10 is a minimum requirement, especially given some of the estimates of the cash we are likely to be seen spending.

As I said appointing Neil when we did wrote off the season.

Wherein lies the dilemma, managers than not, seem to perform less well with a bigger budget, than when they have to look harder for best value.

How do you rate our season? Can we compete with the likes of Luton next season? 3/10. Who knows? It's possible but there's an awful lot we need to do. Suspect we'll see a sizeable improvement next season but not necessarily the surefire promotion push a lot of people seem to be expecting/demanding.

That excuse doesn't apply next season - one summer window might not be enough for promotion but I would hope we'll be at least around the play off places and not fending off relegation. The January window wasn't perfect but the purple patch showed what Neil is capable of with his own players so there is reason to be optimistic.

The most depressing part about this season for me personally is that we've always been able to say "god they are shit" about the majority of teams in this division. This year has been absolutely no exception aside from the fact that the majority of the teams have been worse than normal. Millwall, Blackburn, Preston etc etc, all of whom have dabbled with play-offs, are absolutely shite and you can probably include Luton in that as well.
Our 2 games against Burnley were garbage and they were no better than us.
Against this backdrop of utter shite, we've really excelled ourselves at being even more hopeless than normal. There is a very good argument to suggest that of all the absolute dross we've watched this season, the worst team any of us will have seen will have been Stoke City. We really have been that bad at times. The season was so bad at one point, we had many celebrating an away draw with Rotherham like they'd watched the second coming of peak Real Madrid.
It has been thoroughly depressing and the sooner it is over, the better for everyone. Fortunately for me, my season watching this shite ended after the WBA game.

Who cares? MON needed to be sacked. He’s left a big mess that needs rectifying. So has AN. Unfortunately he's still here! Alex Neil came into a totally unbalanced squad and hasn't been able to sign 1 player that isn't a loan. I'm not his biggest fan, and wanted him sacked before the massive upturn to be fair, but you can't say a single bit of the mess we're in is made by him. He hasn't had anything like the effect we wanted or needed, but the actual facts are that MON and the board are responsible for the situation. The board have allowed the squad to get to a point where we have a handful of senior players still with contracts going into a summer, several of those we won't even want anyway, and needing to sign about 15 players to get us even slightly competitive again. That is negligent at best. It's a disgraceful place for us to find ourselves in, money to spend or not, and I think we let it go far too lightly. I do also think Neil has done a shit job individually and certainly will know he hasn't been good enough, I just mean as a whole he isn't to blame for the state the club finds itself in.

I think the top 4 are a cut above the rest of the league. The Burnley games as you say were even enough and the Sheff Utd games wasn't much in it. The middlesborough games we could easily have won. Luton were far better than us without even getting out of second gear. If we'd given them anything to worry about it felt like they could have stepped it up if needed. The rest of the league from 5th down to 17th could all be the same teams playing in different kits theres so little between them.
