Very silly. It's like an anchor around their neck that place. Knock it down, build some houses and make a 10-12k purpose built stadium with community facilities, offices for other businesses and as many out of football money opportunities as possible. Then and only then might they stand a chance of getting back in the Championship. They had their chance when we moved to the Britannia The council offered them land in Tunstall but Billy Bell wanted to stay at Vale park as Burslem is their spiritual home ….just like Cobridge was their spiritual home and then Hanley was their spiritual home Loons

And their fans (generally) always talk about the need for extra capacity just in case. It's bonkers. On a very good day they get 7000 home fans I think? And its usually less. There's just no logic to their thinking.

Nathan Jones?! 🤔🙄 Whilst he'll likely believe his stock has risen as he's been a Premier League manager and is also 'a top European coach' (in his eyes!) that EFL 1 maybe above his current stature level. But he's worked well in the lower leagues before and perhaps be the kind of project he may seek to embark on given that he may need to reinvent himself after another brief but dismal record at a club with higher level aspirations. Vale and Luton don't seem world's apart in view of stature, albeit Luton have the better history of achievements. Do recall Jones taking in a match at Vale Park not long after being fired from Stoke, may of purely been to watch a game or perhaps he did have a link to the owners. Can you imagine hearing his ramblings back on Radio Stoke pre and post match 🙄😬 I'd be worried if they appointed Jones actually because he's one of those big win, big lose managers and if it went right he could really get them on a roll. He's got a good record in the lower divisions and at smaller clubs with less egos and highly paid players and his nut job personality would go well with their fan base. Might be just the kind of low profile 'project' he needs, assuming he can't get back to Luton again. Doubt his ego would let him sink so low though at this stage, although after his big Stoke and Southampton pay offs he can probably afford it.

No way is a massive Stoke legend like Jones rocking up at Vale Park. It would be like Lou taking the job there.

Bet Lee Blakeman is relieved? Even though he seems to of been more respectful in recent interviews. Darryl Clarke interviews were full on cringe worthy for his patronising remarks towards Lee.
Sounds like from the radio reports I hear each week after attending Stoke, the vale owners have shout themselves in the foot, trying to keep to a very small budget.
As much as I’d love Nathan Jones to go there and bury the club, he would think Vale is too far beneath him.

If it was Nathan, maybe he could come back as the new "Messiah" and do a "Sermon on the Mount" from Meir Heath or Goldenhill, the City's highest points.

Ted Lasso season 3 ends soon and it appears that there's not going to be a season 4. Maybe they are looking at him as a replacement Gouranga.

Fuck me are some on here seriously thinking Nathan Jones would be a potential candidate Perhaps we should go for Klopp if Neil ever leaves …..that’s the similar scenario Lol! Ok.. Not quite an accurate comparison is it? Klopps a proven winner in the top division with league title and silver-ware to his name. Aside from guiding an EFL2 side to the play offs in the Championship with a small unfashionable club with a shite ground with hard working players as opposed to ego experienced pro's who have no respect for him, he's failed at an ambitious Wealthy Championship club and a fairly established Premier League Club. His management CV is nothing like comparable to Klopps. His stock has been heavily tarnished by his tenures at Stoke & Southampton, other clubs owners will be very wary about approaching him due to his record and also his unhinged ramblings. Yes he talks the talk but he only seems to walk the walk when he's working in an environment with no great expectations on him, and with players who worship his work ethic than question it. Which in itself leaves him with a rather limited number of club owners who would be willing to take a chance on him. A lower league Championship or mid table League 1 club would be his most likely destination going forwards, he'll certainly need to reinvent himself & it'll be a brave club/owner to take a chance on him. A Wycombe Wanderers, Portsmouth, Peterborough type club perhaps? Cardiff or Reading possibly his best for a Champo club right now but both facing the drop & doubt the locals at either club would be to anamored with his appointment. Will he end up at Vale, unlikely, but I really dont think his next club will be much better in terms of stature and league position.

You've got to feel sorry for the bloke. Losing his daughter must have been awful for him. And now this. But for the last few weeks he's been talking about the players in public and in the media as being lower league status and that they'll be gone in the summer. Did he really expect that to gee up the players during the terrible times they've been having? It will have had the opposite effects and like a lot of people would have done, they'll know he thinks they're shit and out of a job come the end of the season, so their whole attitude would be one of dejection and breed an air of 'Why should I try harder when the boss openly says we're crap and no longer needed.' He's mismanaged the situation and instead of supporting them, he should have kept his thoughts and feeling private to try and get them to give that bit extra even though they are a shit bunch. Flitcroft is supposed to be running the show so why didn't he have a word about the obvious negativity he was creating. In my view he should go along with Clarke.
OS.

Should never have been appointed. His behaviour and disrespect to Walsall football club was an absolute disgrace. This episode really demonstrates the lack of professionalism of the fail owners. What conduct do you mean? Was it any different than Neil and Sunderland?

Don't see Jones getting an offer from anyone serious any time soon. Bottom-half Championship is going to be the best he can hope for unless he tries to reinvent himself abroad.

3 wins in 20 is a pretty rotten run tbf. Wonder if they've got a whiff of someone else being available. I was told last week that there’s quite a few staff members leaving from all back room roles, some of which are heading to us. CN?

I think he’ll end up going to Wycombe or someone like Peterborough in a couple of years to be honest. However, why would he want to go now? Isn’t it the case that the club you are sacked from pay your wages until either a) your original contract expires or b) you get a new job? (with exceptions for mutual terminations and pre-written agreements) thought that’s what I’d read before.

I think that their owners are finding that it's not cheap running a football club. They get rid of Garlic, then the Manager & now we hear that they are slimming down in the office area. Carol said that the reason that there was no money for player changes during the January window, was because her family had already put £1.2 million of their own money into the club. She said that money had to be put aside so that the pitch could be resurfaced, although she did say, that it would only be cosmetic. So, I think that money is tight. She only bought them because her daughter wanted to go there. It's an expensive 'present'.
