Pulis has a far greater premier league record than Nathan Jones. When stats are referred to there is always a minimum requirement for such things as appearances/ games etc otherwise stupid comparisons like that can be drawn. Sam Allardyce has a 100 % win record for England did you know? Ok. So we’re clear, does being fired after a terrible run of results with your club in danger of relegation, equal failure? You said Pulis had never failed in the Premier League. I believe at WBA he did. Anyway, back to topic… History suggests Pulis was more than capable of turning that around. So no, I don’t agree that that equated to failure in said circumstance. That was his niche.

He'd put them in that position in the first place. And got them and multiple other teams out of pretty much the same position numerous times before. So pales In insignificance in my view.

Yeah I suppose a board sacking someone means that person has failed. Just like every Watford manager 🙄. Sometimes you have to look beyond that.

As I’d previously said History says he would’ve kept them up in my opinion based on his credentials of doing that time and time again. 10 without a win doesn’t equate to failure in the context of the season if he kept them up. The bench mark for judging someone isn’t 10 games.

A relegation battle after finishing 10th the previous season hardly screams success, and a manager who gets you into trouble isn’t likely to get you out of it. It wasn’t the same situation as his previous successes where he’d come in and fixed someone else’s mess, here he had to fix his own, and he wasn’t as adept at that. What he’d done before was irrelevant, they shouldn’t have been in trouble in the first place and he put them there. They were right to get rid, just as we were when we did, as brilliant a job as he did for us overall.

That was at the start of his tenure there. West Brom being in the premier league should be regarded as success full stop and he was the very one who took them to 10th a position probably above their station. So at best I’d say he was a victim of his own success. No one can say with any certainty wether he was adapt at fixing his own mess or not as the time wasn’t really afforded to have proved or disproved that either way, such is the nature of the huge financial fall out the premier league clubs are especially trigger happy. I personally think he would have solved it as his record cannot be argued with. So I don’t regarded that as a failure.

Yes, expectation is the price of success, just existing for the sake of existing, joylessly, rightly isn’t enough for most fans when you’ve demonstrated you’re capable of more. They were sinking like a stone, if he could’ve saved them, why wasn’t he doing, why weren’t they getting the results? They lost 9 of their last 12 the season before and then failed to win 10 of their first 12 the following season. Any manager is going to be in trouble with that kind of record, especially if the football is a struggle to watch as well.

This guy just point blank won’t accept that a dreadful record and getting fired when you’re taking a club backwards is failure. Well, he won’t when it’s Pulis.

"The coaches job is to improve and if it's exactly the same then you are being ineffective." Interesting words from Jordan that could frankly be applied here.
