Just been having a look at how often he’s featured since his time on loan and he’s come on in 7 games for a total of 107 minutes so far🤔Now I’m pretty sure the management at Stoke expected him to feature a lot more than he has done. When is his contract up to with us?

From what I've seen of Celina so far I'd rather have kept DWP at the club.

Honestly, it would have suited him better to have gone a division (or two) lower and got minutes. He needs a campaign under his belt. I don’t see him being in our squad next season, so a better loan is what I hope for.

He’s been the one to sit out due to 5 loan player rule as the others have been un droppable mate Harsh to say he’s failed and be disappointed

Don’t think I’ve said he’s failed in fact I’ve said maybe he hasn’t had enough minutes to judge properly but the minutes I’ve seen of him he’s been disappointing and underwhelming. Agree the other loanees look better

He's young and will improve. Better to get rid of Powell.

I don’t see him being in our squad next season, so a better loan is what I hope for. Northampton are flying high in League Two and their manager prefers to stick with experienced pros rather than blood a younger player. Their top scorer has 20 goals so far this season. With DWP joining a team mid-season, it should have been one struggling to create or score goals. He would have been better off at somewhere like Swindon where they don't score so many goals, but play a system that suits him.

I notice he’s not in the Northampton 18 for their massive game at Tranmere, does anybody know if he’s injured? Just heard John Brady say they’ve had 10 players out most weeks since the New year and he’s still hardly been involved 🤔

I think if his surname was different he would be on Northampton’s bench on merit and nobody would bat an eyelid

Always thought he was massively ineffective and overrated. One good game against Hull?

He would have had more game time here. Next season will be a big one for his career and he needs to get games. I hope for our sake that he comes good.

Weird one DWP. His best games were as part of a two, a striker really...

Like Delap dropping down from the youth team at Man City to us, the level is still too much for many players. Especially dropping down to League Two as a diminutive winger. He will have been at top end academies since he was about 8, playing on the best pitches with the best players of his age.
Drop down to Northampton, where I should imagine it’s a basic training ground, a basic stadium, playing against hairy arsed defenders on some terrible pitches, and it’s a completely different story.
Hopefully he’s learned something whilst he’s been there but he’s hardly played himself into Neil’s plans and I can’t see another club at that level rushing to get him on loan for next season.

I have a blood relly who works at Northampton Town. I've asked about DWP's situation having seen this thread. The reply was somewhat guarded (obviously) and suggested there's no great issue but he's not done enough to force a starting place and DWP 'sometimes doesn't quite fit into the way we want to do things'. Also mutterings from some fans about his being too lightweight for L2. Brady keen to keep the system and the starting line up the same where possible - especially as it's proven successful. So DWP's not had many minutes as a consequence.

I think it’s one of the biggest factors influencing U21’s ability to breakthrough. They go from playing against other people their own size to players 10-20lbs heavier. That added weight is usually lean muscle as well.

Imho his best position is RW where I don't think he's played for the 1st team?

Doesn’t bode well for the summer given he says he knows what’s required , in January he clearly thought it was a knackered centre back who never plays , a winger whose not a winger and a fat bloke who gives goals away by dawdling in the middle of the pitch

I don’t see him being in our squad next season, so a better loan is what I hope for. It would probably be in his own best interests if he went up a division, not down, probably after being freed by us. He's too good for a club that doesn't know how to play football at a proper level on a consistent basis or doesn't know how to plan long term for a talented youth, because we keep changing managers. He's a huge talent, can run rings around defenders and score goals. He will play for England one day, if he doesn't land in the Stoke scrapyards first. And no, my name is not Ian.

No future for DWP at this club, he hates Alex Neil, he's a good lad apparently, professional and trains really well, but just can't displace a contracted player of the year contender at his current loan club, hence lack of appearances, that's from a couple of people within his current club.

He hates Alex Neil? Their paths must have crossed by days, I reckon??? AN was appointed in August Just what has been said by Northampton people, they were staying in a hotel near to Chester last night, before their Tranmere game, knocking back the beers as well! Saying Tranmere have nowt to play for, whether the DWP stuff is true I know not, but they were complimentary about his attitude and talent whilst he has been there.
