Don’t really get why we sent Fosu back and got Celina. Fosu is a better player and would be much more useful in our current system. Can only presume Brentford wanted to send him to a club where he would be a regular starter. Agree Fosu scored today . Don't get me started on Jack Clarke at Sunderland..Just 2 assists and a goal today... Clarke was beyond useless for us.

It’s a Covent he’s been mugged by Warne, Rowett , Pearson to name but three but hopefully he will respond better with different resources

It's obvious Baker and Neil don't get on. Not long after he came on at Coventry last week, he messed up a pass on the break and Neil went ballistic. It was a genuine error that is easily done but there wasn't much love lost. He'll be gone in the summer. Baker was the culprit of their second goal, he could of easily laid the ball off but NO he tried to be clever and fell over trying to con the ref he’d been fouled, Brown did the same when pretending their had taken him out.

Watch that one again , Pearson is the culprit again two errors gives it away and then a tackle / challemge from his John Inman school,of hard men , which is brushed off as it so often is

I wouldn’t entertain signing Celina. Complete show pony……. Don’t really get why we sent Fosu back and got Celina. Fosu is a better player and would be much more useful in our current system. Can only presume Brentford wanted to send him to a club where he would be a regular starter. We had stopped playing Fosu because deal we did late in August meant the percentage of his wages we were paying doubled if he played one more game We obviously decided he wasn't worth that extra money

Just an observation.
Last week at Coventry 2nd half we came out and played poorly, passing and pressing was dreadful. We gave the game to Coventry, with Bonham having to make two excellent saves to keep which scores level. We score through Campbell and game over.
Today, similar without that “Campbell” goal.
I hope we finish the season on a real high, a flourish of goals and points.
So much riding on the shaping of the match day squad for next season. Potential targets seeing what they like, moving on those who AN doesn’t believe will support progress and of course ST sales

How many can we keep? Baker and the subs show that we have no squad depth, and we are desperate for a proper Centre Forward ( mobile who can hold the ball up and contribute 15 goals). None of this will be easy to achieve, but I think Neal knows the type of player and formation he wants to play; hopefully he will be successful.

However, they paid a fortune for him. If he continues to do well, someone will likely more than reimburse them at the beginning of 2025/26, but that’s a hell of a way off.

He’s a massive confidence player, most players are, but Clarke seems to be even more so. You could tell he had ability when he was with us but mainly due to how we were playing when he was here he never really showed it

Maybe just maybe Pearson changed his tactics by reacting to our high press by playing further up the pitch, playing balls over the top and we didn't have the answer. Gouranga. I’m surprised it’s taken that long for a team to play like that against us to be honest, it seemed obvious really. The space we leave behind our full backs, especially when you have Jagielka as one of the centre backs, was always going to catch us out if teams played the ball quickly. It’s a brave tactic by Neil, he’s even said so himself. No issues with today really, people really are going over the top. But it’s not a shock is it.

It just confirmed that beyond the first eleven, we're paper thin. Massive summer and slightly concerning, considering we need ten new players, minimum, for the squad?!
Three goalkeepers two right backs, two left backs two/three central defenders
Shit that's ten already! 😬

Baker loses the ball because he's not concentrating they go up and score , it was atrocious Pearson gives the ball away and then acts like a pussy. I’m sorry it’s not Bakers fault .

Baker was very poor when he came on and although Baker did lose the ball about 30 seconds before it was Pearson, as you say, who gave it away which led to the goal. For as good as Pearson has been since he signed, he has made at least 3 mistakes that have led to goals now. Not saying I don’t want to sign him permanently, because we definitely should but he was poor today, like most of them. As for Baker I wouldn’t be against giving him a start in the next game to be honest, his confidence levels look shot and sub appearances aren’t going to do him any good.

Ben Pearson is weird. Is pretty much the sole reason for our upturn in form but at the same time, has serious flaws to his game.
He is very sloppy on the ball at times and for a supposed shithousing midfielder, he isn't half weak as piss at times too. Some of which have cost us goals and near goals.
I whinced on another thread recently where there was a comparison between him and Whelan. Sorry, not fit to lace Whelan's boots.

Spot on hes a liability far too often I wouldn’t ne breaking the bank for him this league is very physical and he’s not up to it snidey trips is one thing but full blooded challenges and he swatted away see millwall Boro away and yesterdays second goal all down to him and 6 points minimum gone missing . he needs a massive summer fitness and strength overall if he’s to to play that role as a centre piece in a team that’s going to properly challenge and make it.

It just highlights what will continue to be our problem.
We cannot break the mediocre teams down.
The squad didn’t help yesterday either. It had to be one of our worst benches ever.
It’s clear some of the players looked tired and we had the square root of f all to bring on.
I’m slightly more hopeful of a good season next year, but we need an absolute shed load of players.

You need a better attacking playing instead of Smallbone for home games.

I didn't watch the game but looking at their chances and goal it looks like the same old story of our centre backs being to slow, square, and rubbish.
They're just dropping in balls in behind every time and exploiting the lack of pace.

I don't agree that he's a liability. He's clearly a good player at this level but at the same time, is 29 years old, has very little improvement left in him and is clear for the reasons why he isn't in the Bournemouth side at PL level.

And it’s also very worrying because those tactics completely stifled us. It means our high press can be easily found out and other teams still to play us will be studying Bristol City’s tactics with great interest. We need a Plan B to the high press.
