The Rogers sacking is "Watfordesque" brutal. Wins FA Cup , charity shield, 2 of Leicester's 3 highest positions in the Prem. and gets the sack as soon as things look dodgy. That's savage. Hope Leicester get all that's coming to them. I sometimes wonder about the power of the social media and sports media (MOTD) in all this? Do directors/owners panic? It's not as cruel as winning the League and some months later be booted out the door. But that's if results are all that matters. I think Rodgers made himself a lot of enemies at Leicester, with players and staff. If you lose the players' respect, no amount of cups or pseudo trophies will keep you in the job.

Sensible. He won't be short of money from his Chelsea contract and can take a break and wait to see who is desperate for a manager a few months into next season. You never know; if Brighton stay up and have a bad start next season they'd take him back in a flash. I wouldn’t put it past Chelsea going for De Zerbi from Brighton and Potter going back there Nathan Jones style Spalletti? Currently running away with Serie A at Napoli. Got to be someone with CL experience now they've binned Potter or they're just making the same mistake.

It's a panic decision no doubt about that. But they've probably sacked him too late if anything. The decline has been happening for a long while. They went a long way backwards last season and then this season they have a squad that should be capable of finishing at least lower mid table and are struggling badly. The Leicester fans are in unanimous agreement that sacking him is the right decision and should have happened months ago which usually says a lot considering how much he has achieved with them in the past. It reminds me a lot of what we did with Hughes. A poor end to 2015/16 (Rodgers had a poor end to 2020/21 when they were miles clear in the top 4 but ended up losing out on the final day after a poor run). The decline then continued in 2016/17 and even though we largely stayed clear of the relegation battle it was clear that we were now on a downward trajectory and Hughes didn't look like he was fully in control of the situation. Similar to Leicester's season last season. Then in 2017/18 it all went wrong but we kept faith with Hughes for too long due to the fact that he still had 'credit in the bank' from his past achievements. The same sort of thing seems to have happened with Rodgers this season where the evidence on the pitch is clear that he's lost control of the situation and has run out of ideas but he's been kept on for longer than he should have been due to his past achievements.

Rodgers had spent millions and among the finds were some real duffers. The owners income was badly hit by COVID, didn't give him any money to spend, got rid of Rodger's man in charge of recruitment and brought in their own the week after the transfer window shut. In retrospect they should of generated some money by selling the likes of Tielemans (who has had an awful season) but held on instead. Also rumour has it the board have wanted to sack Rodgers for some time but weren't prepared to pay him off and it became a bit of a Mexican standoff. They've left it late but I think they've got some good players and a decent man manager could turn it round especially as they play the teams around them and it's in their own hands.

I said on here many times. Thought people’s reckoning we’d get £18 million for Souttar was downright mental. Well we got £18m + a sell on. Brilliant business and for once we’ve had another teams trousers down by their ankles. Leicester are in trouble and I don’t think Harry’s stopped the rot. When your big money signing doesn’t change your downward trajectory, you’re up against it. Rodgers had to get the axe. Being a British football manager must be the only profession* where you can fail upwards. Talk of him getting the Spurs job should be insane, but you just know he stands a chance. The lucky bastards. *outside of politics. He hasn't stopped the rot and he missed an absloute sitter did Harry tonight. They concede every week aswell, excellent business I say.

Leicester city football club haven't been able to replace key players like Kasper schmicheal , Robert huth and Jamie vardy with similar quality.
But is this Brendan Rodgers fault?
On an even bigger scale Chelsea have spent hundreds of millions messing up their recruitment but is that Graham potter's fault?
The boards go to fall guy at any club is the manager.
So no blame to be put on the boardroom then !
I am not convinced Brendan Rodgers and Graham potter are both poor football coaches.

It's not really a matter of being poor as time and being the right fit though. Potter at Chelsea was never going to work - he's a 'project' manager, Chelsea are a quick fix club. Baffling appointment. Rodgers like most managers had a shelf life. Happened with Liverpool too. Did brilliantly at first but when it's over, it's over.

Marsch has unexpectedly turned it down, so they're onto the D-list uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/jesse-marsch-turns-down-leicester-195155843.htmlOne possible option is former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith, most recently at Norwich City, who could yet be appointed – perhaps with former Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare as his assistant. Also mentioned in the process have been Rafael Benitez, and Martin O’Neill, one of the greatest coaches in the club’s history.

Stoke turn down Potter - go for Lambert and get relegated. Some years later, Potter turns down Leicester (probably still has nightmares about that header....git!) and will probably go for a modern day Lambert type and get relegated.
I love Potter, but he's starting to become a bit of a Macron / Hermann Hreidarsson type curse for clubs in this situation. Lessons need to be learned. Don't approach him, don't turn him down...
