How did he do with the way we play now? We were so good that we didn't use him as a major outlet. He tried a few of his usual flare passes/flicks but none really worked that I remember. Brown's control was loads better today so we were much more balanced with threats down both sides. Powell played his role as a cog in the machine. Strong and skilled enough to hold the ball under pressure, then always looking for the forward option. Kept us ticking when called upon, but not really a major CF threat. Pressed well first half too. Brown was superb, good control, passing, hold up play, beat his man e.t.c Campbell was a bit hit and miss today but was a threat throughout

Did OK.
With Brown, Campbell and Smallbone in form we could see the best of Powell in that slightly withdrawn 9 role.

At least it hopefully means Neil can see that neither Campbell nor and especially Brown can lead the line. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thought he did really well today to be fair, not so flicky and flash, he led the line quite well.

He was more hit than miss I thought. In the first half, almost everything came down that left flank. I think he’s back to that short spell of form he had before his injury. Hopefully next season is his season.

I might be wrong . I am not ITK . This is my observation from the outside.
Like Baker , he is not a bad player .
Like Baker , he doesn't really seem to be driving the momentum of the club at the moment .
Bonham , wilmot , pearson , sterling , brown , campbell , smallbone , tuanzebe , laurent , fox and co seem to be doing the driving
Baker and Powell seem to be passengers .
They are not bad players , one or both may get a move and shine elsewhere , but neither seem to be a driving force at Stoke , these days .

Did ok today after being out for a long time. Good holdup play and nice touch.
Will take a few games to get him back to his best and full match sharpness.
He offered more than Gayle has for us!

Thought he was excellent but telling we played him differently. Balls to feet and used him more as a false 9.
Good stuff.

I hope Nick signs a new contract He sounds quite chirpy, for him, in that video. If he was willing to take the right wages. Nick Powell in a promotion squad would be a no brainer.

I hope Nick signs a new contract Me too because how we are playing at the minute will suit him so much. I could see him getting fifteen goals next season for us with the football we are playing now.

Feel for him a bit, sounded slightly emotional. Comes across like a genuinely decent guy. It's a shame he will never go on to achieve what he could have due to endless injuries. Suspect he will retire within the next three years.

He’s just quite dry in humour which people who are a bit narrow minded amongst us see as him not giving a shit or even liking football. I personally find him quite funny compared to the usual robotic answers.

If he gets a contract, it would need to be “pay as you play”, surely ? We’ve been perfectly fine without him.

He can be replaced. Apart from the odd flick or bit of skill, he contributes very little (3 goals and 0 assist?).

I personally find him quite funny compared to the usual robotic answers. Yeah he's not a yes man, does his own thing. I said the other week that his character is the polar opposite of most footballers and I don't get where the 'he hates playing football' tag comes from. I think he loves playing football as it should be played, for pleasure with a smile on your face, enjoying your moments of success but not getting too down when things don't go your way. He probably hates football played where you get criticism for making mistakes and you have to play safe keeping possession rather than risking something ambitious. I agree he hasn't had the career that his skill possibly deserves but on the other hand he has stayed grounded, doesn't seek attention, isn't flashy off the pitch, keeps his private life private and most of all sees football for what it is - a sport in which he is talented but at the end is not a matter of life or death and shouldn't take itself as seriously as it does. EDIT: I think that is the first time I've seen him interviewed and it just confirms what I've always thought of him.
