I wonder what'll come of Phil Jones....?
Tuanzebe, I can see a PL club coming in for him.

Just copy and paste the link Ta! I think this is actually bad news for us. But here's hoping he really likes it here and prefers oatcakes to money!

We can but dream.
Surely though (even if we can pay him what he wants) there's going to be bigger clubs than us who will come in for him.
I guess his injury record might be the thing that might puts off other suitors, as they might be reluctant to commit themselves to any sort of long term deal.
I guess as he's already he here, there might be the slimmest of slim hopes that we might be able to sell him the dream of aiming to be back in the Prem at the end of next season, whilst structuring a financial package that works for both parties.
EDIT: I started typing this before Grapey's post appeared, apologies!

I am quietly optimistic we will sign him, he came across as an intelligent young man in his interview when he first signed. I think it would suit all parties. If he signs for us and then stays fit, big if, he will obviously move in after a while, hopefully with us making a healthy profit.

Think Middlesborough will be favourites to sign him, especially if they get promoted.

He'll end up at Boro or wherever Carrick ends up.

Just copy and paste the link We can now finally sign Phil Jones...(we don't have to; we won't of course sign a crocked player, will we?)

He'll end up at Boro or wherever Carrick ends up. Not if they are in the Championship he won’t. I imagine that one of the nearly relegated teams from the Prem at the end of the season will see it as good business if he stays fit until then.

He'll end up at Boro or wherever Carrick ends up. I’m clutching at straws but our proximity to Manchester could be important if he doesn’t fancy uprooting at this stage of his career.

Phil Jones makes Tuanzebe look like an ever present. He's made SIX appearances in the last four seasons.

He's in his own shop window now - if he wants to stay in the Prem on Prem wages he'll have to play at a Prem standard for the rest of the season.
So long as he gets picked of course.....

Ah Would assume he would get better offers than a newly promoted side and that's assuming they go up

I saw them to and they seem to be rehashing a piece in the 72 from a fan writer who said that in his opinion they should go and sign him

Ah Would assume he would get better offers than a newly promoted side and that's assuming they go up We’ll have to wait and see. Not sure he will be on the radar of clubs any bigger than Stoke, Boro, Palace etc. I assume of those clubs we wouldn’t be offering the biggest salary either. Just don’t think he will end up here unless we manage to pull the proverbial rabbit from the hat. Fingers crossed.

You could imagine there being quite a market for him abroad, if he was happy to leave England. There would be no shortage of competition.
In an odd way, I'd be more worried if we blasted clubs out of the water to get him here. He's a fine player, but we can't make that mistake again.

Yeh I wouldn’t want us blowing a huge chunk of our budget on him. He’s not the most reliable injury wise and I think signing a cb is easier than getting a goal scoring target man in. He’ll probably end up at Everton like quite a few United players do.

I think how we finish this season is key here.
I get the impression that he is settled in the North West, and is enjoying playing again in the environment we've created. Other teams could've taken a chance on him regarding his injury record, but it was us who took that chance instead. I think he appreciates that.
If we can finish strongly(top 10?) and keep that momentum going right till the end of the season, then I think we will become a much more attractive proposition for him next season.
Possibly a 1 year deal which gives him some wiggle room?

Pearson and Sterling is probably the best we can hope for and then trust Neil to bring in a couple of other signings and some good loans. That’s where he’ll earn his corn.

Hindsight is wonderful, shouldn't we wait and see?, where we finish?, if he stays injury free?, we have had 4 good games! I hope it's a corner turned but let's reign it in a bit. If all goes well, but this is stoke.
