Bayern would hate the Ukrainians going over to the fans at full time. Celebrating failure. They should hang their heads in shame

Match ruined by that nauseating P*rt V*le flag behind the goal. I’ve googled it but I can’t find out what it means

The sort of qualifier we used to struggle with, now felt comfortable enough. Shows how far we've come.
Maddison did some nice moves but definitely felt less effective to me than our other options at wide forward.

Bellingham has turned this team into a really good side. The lack of Sterling has also helped immensely.

Felt that way but his stats showed most chances created for donkeys Definitely worth another look

Worse👀 But we are cruising tbh I’ve only just checked the score. Expected it to be 4/5 tbh. Ukraine seemed to give up once the first went in. Wouldn’t be a great look, would it. We won, did so comfortably and that was that. Why go for the jugular of Ukraine at this time when it’s not going to mean much?

What benefit do you get from kicking a nation when it’s down? Do you think that we will gain extra momentum? I don’t. We won, easily. Now the players can go back to their day jobs and get on with it all without various media outlets talking about how England are a disgrace etc (which you can guarantee they would if we had stuffed them).

I know I miss a lot of important details in a game tbf, there are loads more knowledgeable than me on here. I saw some nifty moves followed by failed passes, and those stuck in my head. We've got good and different options in that position with Foden and pace players, it'd be remarkable to have yet another!

It had the feel of a friendly game about it. The crowd were a little flat. Good to see Saka and Bellingham continuing to look like our future stars. Job done.

It massively worked against Ukraine as well I thought. You need to be fired up against your opposition and that intro will not have helped. I can't recall seeing such a soft Ukraine performance in a long time.

Amusing amount of grumbling on the BBC match report - if we don't demolish teams, the armchair managers are out in force. Southgate obviously has his flaws (mainly in game tactical nous) but he's made these qualifying games almost a foregone conclusion. It's not that long since we'd be drawing with teams like Ukraine and qualifying by the skin of our teeth.

It's qualifying in a group with two automatic spots and a playoff if you manage to somehow mess that up. England had absolutely zero reason to go hell for leather after scoring the brace before halftime and saw out the game with an absolute minimum of fuss. I don't understand why people are always surprised these games which often have massive skill differentials between the teams end up fizzling out into a boring game.
Coupled with a very good win in Italy, it's as good a start as England would have hoped for and means qualification is pretty much all but sewn up after 2 games.

Good results but that is 2 games running now where we have come out 2nd half and been totally flat.
Is Southgate slipping some tamazipam in their drinks at half-time?
Still not enough subs made and way too late in the game. Its getting a bit annoying now.

Yep some same failings going on and we were commenting that fresh legs did not appear until the 80th minute against Ukraine. We also need to get firing in the second half, we looked "in the dressing room" in the first 10 mins. We can't expect to steam roller all teams though and they will have a go after a 1/2 time rollocking. Still max points from two games and we can start thinking about Germany at this early stage.

Yeah overall its so much more pleasing watching England games than say 10 years ago. This high intensity pressing style suits the players so well. It does feel like we have already basically qualified for next years Euros with these results.

Southgate his getting the results and his liked by his players . We are looking good but still need marginal improvements by july 2024 .
I think he needs to consider , what sort of players harry maguire and kalvin phillips will be by july 2024 .
Port vale players , by the look of it !
italy and the ukraine are out of the way , we need to start blooding a couple of players for 2024 now .
I point blank refuse to believe , we don't have young players who will be quicker , sharper and more on it , than phillips and maguire , in 15 months time
