It's interesting at how many things are currently under attack while this one remains completely free of scrutiny.
The excess usage of loo roll round the world is staggering. Britain requires 6 million trees per year. America requires 31 million.
Ridiculously unsustainable. Absolutely trashing the environment. Deforestation at record levels.
Why aren't we talking about this and trying to find sustainable solutions? The three big toilet paper manufacturers are posting record profits... They are clearly doing something right, but we definitely aren't.

There's a lot of shit (pun intended) spoken about this subject. Take a listen to this for a better perspective on the subject. More Or Less

If it's soft, and your fingers don't go through it, it's a 'yes' from me.

Options 2 and 3 require an extensive social change (3 more than 2) and would use a lot of water. I have no problem with recycled paper becoming more regularly used. However, big companies are not going to drastically change their product. It would require a lesser known company to explode in popularity to shift that.

Apparently, some countries scrunch and some fold. We're folders by and large.

I’ve insisted that the other half stops purchasing Andrex as it always blocks the toilet

Shiny paper like my Nan used to have. I understand it used to be scraped clean - an early effort at recycling.

Felling forest is useful, otherwise it dies.
But of course, too much is too much.
The problem isn't the usage, the problem is the world population.

I’ve insisted that the other half stops purchasing Andrex as it always blocks the toilet I foolishly got a plumber out to unblock a toilet once, because the downstairs one was also blocked I thought it was a problem common to both, £80 (20 years ago) and he'd unblocked the upstairs one with a plunger before I'd made his cup of tea, never made that mistake again, always have a plunger handy now Downstairs one was more complicated and I ended up doing it myself anyway

However, big companies are not going to drastically change their product. It would require a lesser known company to explode in popularity to shift that. I have absolutely no idea which option is the best, but we have to be exploring them at this point. It's a social taboo and that stifles the debate. People don't like talking about stuff like this; it's much easier to smugly broadcast that you're a vegan or a drive an electric car. If we care so much about the planet, then we should be looking closely at literally every aspect of our daily life including what we use to wipe our arse. Ultimately, it doesn't matter if your family own a Tesla and are perfect recyclers, if you fly a private jet once a year, you will fuck the planet more than the majority of people do in their lifetime. The same applies here and therefore we have to be digging into our normal habits and thinking about how we can change them to be more forgiving.

It reminds me of when I stayed at a hotel in the old town of Cannes. A bidet next to the grand lit.

Slightly of subject….my neighbour decided to fit a bidet and asked me round to admire it when I asked him why he had fitted it in the bathroom when the toilet was in a separate room there was stunned silence.

When you have a septic tank like me you are a lot more careful what goes down the pan. It's a living eco system and when running efficiently needs almost no maintenance. When I do get it emptied it ends up on our food production. Caring for your own shit makes a difference. Cheeky Panda bog rolls are the best imo, bamboo you can almost watch it growing. uk.cheekypanda.com/
