What was out best ever performance in the Premier League? I’m guessing from an attacking point of view it has to be something from the Hughes era but which match?

What was out best ever performance in the Premier League? I’m guessing from an attacking point of view it has to be something from the Hughes era but which match? Man City 2-0 hands down. The most complete and controlled performance I've ever seen from a Stoke team, by quite a distance - and against newly-minted, recent champions and indeed league leaders. It was approaching perfection.

Either 5-0 v Arsenal or 3-2 Leeds but it wasn't called the Premier League then, n.b. top flight football wasn't invented in 1992.

Stoke 2 Man City 0
Bojan as a false nine with Arnie and Shaq either side. Brilliant, brilliant performance and result.

Alot would say Liverpool 6-1 understandably. I'd go for the Man city at home 2-0 when Arnie scored them both, we absolutely ripped them apart that day and it should have been six. The home game against the shit around the same time is up there aswell along with the Everton away 4-3 game. Fuck me, thinking back now we were pretty fucking good weren't we. Bloody hell.

The 2-0 against Man City.
It genuinely could have been 7-0.
We’d have battered any team on that day.

Man City 2-0
In saying that if the ref hadn’t inexplicably given offside when we went 4-0 up against Arsenal I think that would have beaten it, I honestly think we’d have gone on to to win it 6-0 and ended up scraping home 3-2 instead……

That was a bullshit decision which I genuinely felt the ref give as he felt sorry for them as we were pummeling them. As you say it could have been six if not for that decision.

I’d go for the two nil v Man City but there’s something really heart warming about the 3-4 v Everton. We were absolutely at the peak then

I think the Man City game was the best among several.
I remember being in the Longton Rugby Club when the team/lineup was announced and people were raising their eyebrows. I immediately said that’s a good team.
It was a masterclass and MC did not have a clue what was happening as they had obviously anticipated and set up to play a completely different Stoke lineup. In addition the crowd, Fortress Britannia, were equally amazing. 😀⚓️

6-1 v Liverpool final day of the season Only problem I’ve got with that was it was end of season, they were already on the beach and it was like a Gerrard testimonial but we scored some awesome goals!

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9474067.stmI'd probably go for that Man City one in the peak Hughes era - but I thought we were brilliant in this Arsenal game, just before the Cup Final in 2010-11. But sadly Huth joined Etherington and Fuller on the injury list to take the gloss off it. The home wins against both Manchester clubs in December of 2015 were sensational - but that was the season when Leicester won the league and they finished 4th and 5th, 15 pts off the title.

I don't know why I opened this thread. Just full of anger and frustration that my lad, who is really getting into his football now, has to watch the charlatans and chancers we have turning out for us now than what I was fortunate enough to watch back then.
He still enjoys it of course but was telling me the other night how much he thought of Mitoma, Dunk and Caicedo for Brighton.
Didn't have the heart to tell him they couldn't hold a candle to peak Shawcross, Huth, NZonzi, Arnautovic or Bojan and that the side we had back then would have wiped the floor with them.
Sorry to say this again and drag it into another thread but could swing for that lot upstairs...

For 45mins.when we were 3-0 v Arsenal, but it should have been 4-0. How that goal from Bojan was ruled out was criminal.
