Did they pick him as a reflection of how the rest of the team played? Has any goalkeeper had less to deal with.

It was odd but there wasn’t any candidate really.
If I had to pick on it would have been Smallbone but they just shouldn’t have bothered tbh.

Perhaps saving the ball off of a Hull players foot right before he took the shot? It most likely would have been a clear on target shot when the defense let a through ball get to a Hull player. To be fair it was probably going in if he didn't come for it. It was a 50/50 decision that had to be made and he chose rightly to come out and get two mitts on the ball on the players foot. We haven't had a goalie do that in some time. They usually sit on the line, let the player in and score.

I think people would have been incredulous about whoever would have been chosen.
Got to feel for the sponsor in a situation like that.
But it was odd.
I remember Dave Brammer getting one in about 2006 that prompted a collective intake of breath, and this one was up there.
Neil didn't believe it when he was told by Nige.

Just a reflection of how shit the outfield players were I'm guessing. I wouldn't have liked to pick one from today's dross but if I did I would probably have said Smallbone who I think did ok today. Tezgel looked bright when he came on aswell but didn't really have long enough.

The strikers didn’t deserve it, midfield didn’t do much either. Keeper got us a point

Problem is we as a team created nothing statistically except for a free kicks shot even though he was brilliant today. So, their near chance edg'd it for me, plus he's also new so you can see why they probably gave it to Sarkic'

I thought it was more of a philosophical comment on the game by the sponsors rather than an assessment of performance levels .... although he was Okish.

Surely it would just be easier for us nowadays to have a "Who wasn't the worst man of the match" award?

Couldn’t we have given it to one of the subs that didn’t play?

I just watched the highlights.
He made 2 diving saves and one great block at the feet of a Hull player who was about to score.

Give the ball away and created nothing. Exactly, can’t believe some of the praise I see for someone who makes zero impact on the game whatsoever.

Some confusion today between the questions ‘who was man of the match’ and ‘who looked like they won a raffle to play in goal for Stoke?’

The strikers didn’t deserve it, midfield didn’t do much either. Keeper got us a point I think Sarkic deserved MOM. He earned us a point. We lose that game if Bursik was between the sticks.

Am I the only one who thought he made a couple of important, decent saves but also the that the defence looked far more comfortable with him behind them knowing they could push a bit further forward because he can play sweeper and that they can pass back to him and he will deal with it even under pressure. His kicking accuracy in the first thirty when we were dominant was excellent. He also made all the right decisions quickly with the ball at his feet knowing immediately whether to pass along the ground, kick long or just get rid as soon as possible. Such a difference from the dithering we are used to.

The save first half was brilliant and won’t get the praise it deserves. Excellent goalkeeping in the 2nd half where he got out to smother as well.

Tezgal, he did look like a footballer during his time on the pitch, which can't be said for any of the others.

I'm not as well versed in goalkeeping as yourself and others, but it looked to me that he is a much more confident and decisive presence in goal with better footwork than his predecessors.
