Sarkic 7, good game. Wilmot 6, OK Jags 6, OK Fox 6, OK Hoever 5, a lot of bad decisions and looks weak in the air. Sterling 6, OK Laurent 6, OK Thompson 6, OK Smallbone 7, our best midfielder. Gayle 4, not much impact. Campbell 2, doesn't run the channels, doesn't hold the ball up and doesn't win headers. Doesn't deserve to start games!
Brown 6, improved us Powell 5, improves us Tezgel 5, improved us

Can’t be arsed to rate the players but Campbell simply isn’t a striker he’s a wide forward.

Sarkic - 6 the man of the match was given to him because our outfield players were so average. Did a great pounce but nothing worthy of man of the match. Big improvement on Bonham and Bursik this week and he looked better than last week.
Hoever- 6 thought his passing was good first half. He looked at aerial challenges and decided against getting involved. Not a good trait for a wingback
Sterling - 5 I found his performance boring.
For 4 - some of his sloppiness was inexcusable
Jags - 4.5 better than fox but also too many sloppy unforced errors.
Wilmot 5 - best of the lot defensively but clueless with some of his breaks forward.
Laurent 6 - at it first half. Invisible second half.
Smallbone 4 - back to being shit. Must be a record for how many times a midfielder has give a ball away in a match. Offered nothing all game. He put effort in but his quality was terrible.
Thompson 4 - First half gave the ball away, gave needless fouls away, created nothing.
Campbell 3 - usually a fan of him. He may as well have stayed at home.
Gayle 4 - some good link up play early first half. Didn't bother coming out second half.
Tezfel 5 - looked bright. Not enough time to criticise him.
Powell 5 - the odd flick. A shell of his former self. Made an improvement in the final third but without impact.
Brown 3.5 - team defo improved when he game on. Zero quality and that cross straight to the keeper when he had all the time in the world was unforgivable. It was like watching a ten year old put a ball in. But not the ten year old with potential.
Where was celina? Bright spark the last couple of matches. Strange to drop him and not even bring him on.

I’m glad you’ve started it this week RW as I was going to title it the ‘Cheadle Potter’s watched a different game to everyone else thread’
Sarkic 6 Wilmot 7 - gets an extra one for trying to drive us forward Jagielka 5 - clumsy Fox 6 Hoever 6 Thompson 6 - though I wouldn’t argue with a 5 or a 7, could have closed channels that we don’t see without the replays Laurent 8 - finally seeing the player I thought we’d signed Smallbone 7 - quieter 2nd half but good moving us forward in the 1st Sterling 6 - is a wing back, a right one though Gayle 5 - won sod all and didn’t create either Campbell 5 - not a CF, game didn’t suit him at all
Brown 5 - not a wing back in a million years Powell 4 - an arrogance that doesn’t suit his quality, nearly everything he touched turned to shit Tezgel 6

Sarkic 8, Motm Wilmot 6, Below Avg poor passing but clean sheet Jags 6, Below Avg poor passing but clean sheet Fox 6, Below Avg poor crossing delivery but clean sheet Hoever 6, Bright moments winning space but poor delivery and not match fit, needs games Sterling 6, Okay, got forward well but crossing was woeful Laurent 7, Barely avg, got forward late but wasn't trying to win it like we've seen. Thompson 7, Avg, good defensively and marked/ position very well, going forward was lacking. Smallbone 7, Most creative player and gave effort close second for Motm for me. Gayle 6, Two passes begging for tap ins and Campbell nowhere near Campbell 5, Needs dropping, no effort, no runs, no attempts to get open or near the spot. Can't win headers just very poor today.
Brown 6, improved us physically but not enough time to do anything, poor crossing also. Powell 6, improved us in midfield poor attempts to win headers. Didn't move into space like normal today. Tezgel 6, improved us up top, very psychical and gives effort winning possession.

Sarkic 7, Punches a bit too much for me but looks better than what we have. Wilmot 6 OK Jags 6, OK Fox 5 worries me when he has the ball Hoever 6 faded but did OK. Doesn’t look the liability I thought he might be. Sterling 6, Decent. I could see him being a good CB. Laurent 6.5 I rate him but he’s played better. Thompson 6 Worked hard but his distribution is poor. Smallbone 7, our best midfielder again. I’ve seen big improvements. Can’t understand the stick he gets. Gayle 5 Very quiet but didn’t play to his strengths. Campbell 4 Lazy. Looks uninterested.
Brown 5 improved when he came on but technically awful. Powell 6 Bit rusty Tezgel 6.5 Good cameo. Deserves a chance to start.

He is the most overated waste of space I have seen in 55 years watching Stoke, a complete luxury who isn't even qualified to be a luxury. Smallbone ran his arse off all afternoon with some good interceptions and intelligent stuff, ok not everything comes off but he worked his socks off. Powell? Get rid

Sarkic 6, kept us in the game but poor kicking, one good throw out though Wilmot 5, tries to drive forward but is poor Jags 5, starting to tell that he is 40 Fox 5, one great tackle, but poor distribution and carelessness Hoever 5, looks like he's worth persevering with, possibly, some poor distribution, but best crosser out of a bad bunch Sterling 5, playing out of position, cant use his left foot, got in decent positions then....zero Laurent 5, thought he was anonymous for large periods of the game, improved towards the end. Thompson 5, what a mixed bag, poor corners Smallbone 5, he presses but poor passing Gayle 4, nothing player Campbell 4, really poor by him
Brown 4, huff and puff, and nothing else Powell 5 at least had some presence but he's a No.10 Tezgel N/A a couple of nice touches, lets just give him the job and let him improve, at least we should see a player who is capable of improving

And football is an opinions game youre right. 5 is not a good score. Powell gets a 5 because he made an impact on the game, albeit not a good performance. Smallbone scored lower because he was on longer and had a negative impact on the game. I don't score players up for running unless they run to the extreme like Walters or Whitehead used to. Running is a basic for a midfielder. If Powell is the worst you've seen in 55 years I'm shocked. I could probably name 500 worse players than him for us in the last 30 never mind the last 55.

I would like to see his stats because certainly first half he won the ball for us more than anyone else as well.

He was subbed in as a forward but wasn't really in the final third except for corners. I meant he helped the midfield numbers but auto-correct. Baffling sub eitherway, he won 3 headers on the center spot and had one backheel shot before getting injured, again.

I think Campbell and Powell’s performance level are symptomatic of a team that isn’t functioning. Both have ability but seem to be the sort of characters that flourish when things are hunky dory around them - not really the sort who can rise above and impose themselves on a game. It’s probably held Powell back for years and frankly Campbell has shown similar traits ever since he came into the 1st team.

You have been watching Stoke for fifty five years and you think Powell is the biggest waste of space we've had. Have you been watching with your eyes closed for all that time? not really, but, in modern times name me a bigger one, Brown is not allowed cos he's an easy target. He is on a par with any Ben Petty or Billy Whitehurst! Berahino, Martina, Imbula, Chester, Kitson, Jese, Palacios, Flint, Pericard, Ryan Woods. I mean they are just off the top of my head mate but there's literally hundreds of players if you go through them. Since we were relegated I think Powell has been one of the best signings we've made and barring his injuries which aren't his fault has been quality for us on the whole. He's not a striker though as we all know, I just wish someone would tell Alex Neil.
