You'd think Sterling and Hoever are interchangeable but it's not ideal. But the managers caused it he now needs to manage it.

Probably the only way we could get it over the line at such short notice. Yeah - good luck doing a permanent deal in an hour . Would hope it's with a view, but maybe that's optimistic That sums up their useless organisation and planning up though. They have to do the honourable thing and go asap.

Tuanzebe Pearson Sarkic Celina Smallbone KJH Sterling
Either way I’d keep KJH out and maybe smallbone
But it’s piss poor organisation

Loan is good
Minimum risk - no contract if it doesn’t work out. Souttars money being spent in the summer hopefully, we we can do a proper rebuild.
And Pearson is a good player

So we can now make two or more of them permanent as they are registered with the Club

Looks like if it's only a loan for administrative reasons and time constraints, that can be rectified in the following weeks www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-news-transfers-live-8092159Stoke's loan rangersStoke have six loan players now and we're still waiting to see if Axel Tuanzebe was done in time. This is reminscent of Alex Neil's last January window at Preston, when he ended up with seven players on loan - including Liam Lindsay from Stoke and a couple of other familiar names: Daniel Iverson and Anthony Gordon. They were able to make two of those deals - Greg Cunningham and Ched Evans - permanent in the following weeks. This is allowed because players are already registered with the club. Peter Ridsdale explained at the time: "We either have to leave two out or turn two into permanents. "We are on with that task and will take the opportunity to try and reduce the number of loans. "We knew what the numbers were but we weren't going to turn down the chance to sign quality players on loan."

They have to do the honourable thing and go asap. I'm not defending them mate but on this specific deal I don't think Pearson became available until very late in the day when Bournemouth brought in their last signing which took them over their quota of overage players meaning they needed to offload someone. But the centre half situation could massively hurt us.

Great addition to the squad, hope this becomes permanent in the summer. In 4 months some better players coming in despite manager’s hands tied and a load of dross (Souttar the exception) out. The manager and the board need to go😄. Bayern must know a crowd of Saudis waiting to take us over.

Why? if he's crap can send him back and not stuck with him. And if he's dead good, we have no claim on him. I guess it all depends on how good you think he is at this minute. Me? I haven't got a Scooby ... He’s 28 if he was good enough for the PL he’d be there now. He’s a good championship player and just what we need at this time. I’d imagine if it works out we’re in pole position to sign him for 2-3m tops. I’d rather we had him than not at all. If he stays fit I think he’ll be a fantastic signing.

If ever a player was destined to play for Stoke it was Ben Pearson. FINALLY… after multiple windows where his name came up time and again on everyone’s wish list… Ben Pearson is a Stoke player. The CDM we have craved. At the time of writing, still need a centre-half. But this one sends me to bed with a smile after earlier sadness over losing Harry. Let’s hope he’s still the same Pearson he was at Preston. Welcome Ben… we’ve been expecting you.

Excellent signing. Didn’t think we wanted loan players sat in the stands wasting a wage? I agree. I think this is a good signing. The only thing I can think of in AN's defence when he made that comment was that he was referring to players who he was never going to pick and thus were not a good use of money. In the new scenario, the incoming loan players are his players and all 7no loanees are now in contention for a place in the matchday squad. You would think that with injuries there will probably always be at least 1oo7 sitting in the stands. On a separate point. If we don't have money to spend then we cannot buy players. The money we got from Souttar came too late. I suppose we could have sold Souttar earlier in the window for 10MM to free up some cash. No idea how this all works in practice. Maybe AN was ok with waiting and felt he did not need to spend money on permanent deals in Jan preferring to wait until the Summer? Who knows.

And does that just apply to those loaned on deadline day? What about the others loaned earlier in the window or even earlier in the season eg Sterling? I'm guessing that (logically) it only applies to players signed this evening but I'm certainly no expert ... I only discovered it was actually a rule 5 mins ago lol! 😁
