He's the best CH we've had since Huthy and Shawcross. If we'd managed to make the play offs to the PL then I think we might have had a chance of keeping him but he's far better than Championship level and I can see him moving on to much better things come the end of the season. That's a shame because we could have built a side around him.

The reality is that we will have to continue nurturing our own, or buy young and develop, then sell on..I haven't got the interview to hand, but I think Ricky Martin said something along those lines..I think he laid out how our summer business would be addressed, older established championship players, younger players to buy, develop and then hopefully sell on and loans.

i am not knocking the lad but best thing we did was to sell Harry soutter,we have not missed him 1 bit, if we can persuade Axel to sign it would be a great piece of buisness buy the club, with the Soutter money in the bank, hopefully we can get Axel, Pearson,Sinclair, all in with money to spare, still think we will go for the Leicester keeper to, who is out of contract at the end of the season, hopefully Hoever on another 12 month loan deal then go all out to buy Smallbone, and a good prolific striker,, maybe Brereton, if he is interested, Wow! I'm in love with your thinking 🤩 In a 'Man-love' way, of course 😠

I think the best we can hope for with Axel is another season long loan. I guess it depends on how his body holds up for the rest of this season

Doesn't seem to be based on anything apart from Neil's comments - but they unsurprisingly seem to be taking it as read that he won't be staying at Man Utd www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-united-axel-tuanzebe-stoke-26519058#Stoke City are weighing up a permanent move for Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe. Tuanzebe, 25, is out of contract at United at the end of the season and he's set to leave the club on a free transfer. The defender joined Stoke on loan in January and a permanent move to the Bet365 stadium in the summer window is possible. Stoke have no option or obligation to make the loan deal permanent, so should they want to sign Tuanzebe following the expiry of his United contract in the summer, new terms will have to be agreed upon with his representative.

Money aside, I suppose the best chance we have of signing him is having a strong end to the season and him feeling a part of something good. If we whimper to the end of the season I’d say our chances are pretty much zero, but a strong end where he stays fit and feels wanted could make the difference.

If he stays fit and plays well until the end of the season it’s highly likely some prem teams would certainly be interested in him. We probably couldn’t afford to pay what he is likely to be offered

Without checking he hasn’t played that much 1st team football for his age. Am I right?

Nope not recently but he’s highly rated at Man Utd which will automatically add to his reputation. at his age he should be at the peaks of his career. As I’ve said he is likely to get better offers and the prospect of playing in a higher division

He's better than souttar and souttar is playing in the prem.
His wages are two million quid a year ( mainly paid for by man utd)
We are not going to have a prem player on two million a year, playing for us in the championship.
I would be amazed if he plays for us next year . Even though he is easily good enough.

Looks like he’d have gone to the very top had it not been for his injuries.
Would be a huge risk giving him big money though. You don’t want him missing 50% of the season.

A good year here where he’s first choice and plays 35-45 games and he’ll propel himself back to the PL. If he’s happy for us to be the springboard for that to happen then it’d be excellent for everyone involved.

As good as he's played he's only made 90 senior appearances at 25.
We'd after go careful regarding financing him.

If he stays fit between now and the end of the season I’d love it if we could somehow manage to sign him permanently but I just can’t see it.
It doesn’t matter too much what his current contract is because that won’t be getting renewed, certainly not at the current level anyway. You’d have to think there will be a few clubs who’d be interested in having him though, even with his injury record.
The only glimmer of hope is as mentioned earlier in the thread, he knows he’ll get game time here and he won’t have to uproot to anywhere because we’re close enough to where he currently lives so it’s convenient for him.
If, and it’s a big if, we somehow managed to sign him and he stayed fit my hopes for next season would already be dramatically raised before any other players come in because he’s a Rolls Royce of a defender and too good for this level really.

He didn’t play much in his second Villa stint as Gerrard didn’t fancy him much. Think he went back to United and got injured again though. The game where he had Mbappe in his back pocket might’ve been just after he went back to United from Villa second time round. Thing is, his suspect injury record is going to be a risk for any team and they will not be offering anything more than £30k for that reason, maybe less. I think if we can offer a structured deal whereby he starts on £25k, rising to £35-40k based on appearances or promotion and he feels settled with us, that may sway him.

According to someone at Stoke, he has had an offer much higher than that. Seems unrealistic to think he will take that sort of a deal.

Would be absolutely fantastic if we could get him over the line🤞 I think you look today at the clubs plans to try and convince season ticket holders to renew. They’re not daft they’ll know how highly the fans think of Tuanzebe and how much signings like him will rev up the fan base Of course that doesn’t mean it’ll happen but I’m sure we’ll give it a good crack
