As you can see I'm more a reader than poster. I see that we've sold out for Luton Town away and one of the Oatcake family stated "Weirdest Entrance" to a ground. Following Stoke for over 50 years has taken me to some memorable grounds. Four stand out for very different reasons.
Ayresome Park-(Middlesbrough) I remember this being a very tough place with tough supporter's who took no shit from anybody. This is our town mentality. Mainroad-Manchester City. The back streets and alleyways around this ground still send shivers down my spine. Saltergate-Chesterfield. The away end was one of the bleakest, coldest, weed ridden shit holes on my travels. The Old Den-Millwall. If you went there with a mate wearing no colours minding your own business Millwall supporters could smell you were from STOKE!!
No doubt you've all got your own memorable grounds you've visited.

Wigan's old ground, Springfield Park was memorable for the grass bank The Vetch and St Andrews were scary for me (never went to the Den), even the road up from Small Heath was hostile Had a fondness for Notts County for some reason

I went to work for Stoke at the Vetchfield Ground some 20 years or so ago and had to find the players entrance. It was right in the middle of a row of terraced houses and what looked like an allotment entrance.

Colchester's Layer Rd was a old ramshackle dump but I quite liked it

Ninian Park always had a real edge to it, especially one of the games we played there midweek in the late 90s/early 00s.
Always enjoyed visits to Bury's Gigg Lane and the old Burnden Park in Bolton was a million miles away from what their current ground is like - it had a lot of "character" to say the least.
Those streets around the old Maine Road were character building as well! Rough as fuck!

Maine road was scary as fuck, every street looked the same. Was Chesterfield's saltergate where you got rained on having a piss as there was no roof on the bogs? As someone else has mentioned Wigan's Springfield park a dump. Remember Swansea at the vetch having God knows what thrown over us after the game from the houses and then it kicked off big time in the FA cup game there. Always liked Colchester away at there old ground, layer road was it? Always seemed to be sunny when we played them there and always liked Wrexham away for some reason, think it's because we always seemed to win there.

Boundary Park, Oldham.
Steam rising from the piss all over the floor in the toilets with no roof in the middle of winter, and the stench of beery farts and Jeyes Fluid.

The coldest ground I've ever played at AND I've still got the scar on my right leg from an attempted slide tackle on that stupid artificial pitch they had back then.

Visits to The Baseball Ground & Filbert St in the 70s/80s certainly opened eyes even as a young un, the tight streets & terraced houses which all looked the same were the norm then. I suppose you can add beautiful Turf Moor to that list still to this day, again its grimness & "friendly" welcome from locals still being part of a match day
With the tinted specs still firmly on the face The Vic bless her & how a visit for an away fan would have been. If you came on the train it was the walk fast paced past the cemetery & PMT depot, again past terraced streets that all looked the same, and pubs which were not the most welcoming to an out of town visitor

I’ve been Hereford FC this season, a great time warp stadium and just a great day coupled with a visit to the town. Aldershot will be done in March, another old ground which is likely to disappear, it’ll be great to stand under the barrel roof East Bank, much of the Recreation Ground is 90-100 years old. Easter Saturday I’ll be at Arbroath v Dundee, I cannot wait for this visit, another time warp ground. To be fair, in Scotland you can fill your boots with old school stadiums. If I can’t get a Blackpool ticket then I’m off to Carlisle United for another first visit. Next month will be Luton, I’ve been before but I’ll think I’ll enjoy it this time as it’s a goner too. I’m hoping to get to Great Yarmouth Town with its famous ‘world oldest’ stand built in 1892. Go and see them before they’re flattened.

Turf Moor and Ayresome Park spring to mind
To be fair Burnley have done a good joob with modernising the Turf while still retaining a bit of ‘old schoolness’

Gigg Lane 1990 was the first away match I was allowed to go to with just my mates. Didn't really register with me that there weren't any crush barriers in our end until we scored and our crowd resembled a tidal wave, proper scary stuff. But exhilarating!

Old skool intimidation factor highest at grounds with vast cavernous standing sides, being St. Andrew's and Maine Road.
Not forgetting Upton Park in its cockney diamond geyser National Front newspaper selling heyday in the 70's and 80's.
These are my 3 favourites.

The Vic. Obvious but no ground has ever left an impression like the vic did on my first ever visit as a young lad.
Happy memories
Away wise. Millmoor Rotherham, what a shit tip but strangely likeable.

I started going to away games in the late 90’s. The one benefit of us being absolute shite around that period was some of the grounds we got to go to. Moss Rose, Bootham Crescent, Manor Ground, The Shay, Elm Park, Millmoor etc.
All absolute dumps but full of character.

Unless it’s been demolished recently, Millmoor is still standing and still being used for amateur football.

Went to a game at Oldham, & 2 of us had to be relocated, as there was a roof support where the seats should have been. One of the coldest grounds I've been to.

I remember visiting Bramall Lane in the 70’s when Sheff Utd were top of the league and we won 3-2. Apart from the game my main memory was the cricket pitch and pavilion which occupied one side of the ground.
Happy memories!

I remember Northampton being like that, a night match in the league Cup I think, late 70s?
