Who was the last loan signing we had where you thought "we need to move heaven and earth to make this permanent". (Not including Danny Tiatto who would obviously be everyone's 1st choice).
I reckon probably BMI?
How many loans have we had since then?
Also, is it just us that seems to sign crap loans or is it the same for all clubs.

Victor Moses the last really good loan I can think of. Yep, seems he is at Spartak Moscow, working for the Putin dollar.

Moses was the first that sprang to mind.
Other than that Arnar Gunnlaugsson

Moses was generally a good loan signing for us but I recall him having a few horrors aswell. That FA Cup 5th round defeat to Blackburn at Ewood Park where we lost 4-1 he had an absolute mare & couldnt find anywhere to hide on the pitch leading to him getting hooked off midway through the 2nd half..
Lee Grant was a good loan signing I was happy we made a permanent.
Looking abit further back I don't think we can look much beyond when Ryan Shawcross pledged his future to us following a very successful loan spell, not forgetting his debut goal at Cardiff of course!

Assaidi was the ideal for how we played.
I’m at a loss after that

Mark Stein.... Although he didn't actually score in his loan period, you just knew there was something good about him, and he teamed up so well with Biggins!!!

Wasn't Ryan Shawcross a loan initially?

Bruno Martins Indi, was absolutely fantastic during that loan season and everyone was made up when we signed up.

Baker, looked to be the real deal when he came to Stoke. Right now I wouldn't mind seeing him gone, but hopefully he can find back to the form from last season again.

2 that spring to mind. Jason Kearton and John Halls. We did sign John Halls didn't we? Good with the ball at his feet Used to face his attacker square on like an 8 year does, worst defensive stance of any footballer I've ever seen

Not a "move heaven and earth" signing but Norrington Davies would have been a very good signing, miles better than anyone we currently have in our squad in his position.
