He's 17. Let's just let him grow.
Manager needs to give him more game time, the fans need to be patient and level with him.

He must have done a fair bit in stoppage time because by time I left on 89 mins he hadn’t touched the ball He touched the ball three times in his 9 minutes (inc injury time) cameo. I think people are just a bit giddy from the result. He needs time and most importantly patience from everyone. And he controlled it better than the others have done all season. It was like chalk and cheese.

And he controlled it better than the others have done all season. It was like chalk and cheese. Campbell’s touch looked absolutely fine for: - the assist for Smallbone - his lay off for Brown which was scrambled over - his chance from the second half kick off - his goal Tezgel touched the ball 3 (THREE) times.

Did it? It mainly looks heavy but he had space so it was fine. Where good control in tight spaces was needed it usually doesn’t come off. Brown has a lead foot. Smallbone is the same. His shot was actually him trying to control

I think people are just a bit giddy from the result. He needs time and most importantly patience from everyone. It wasn't just his touches it was his movement off the ball and the way he was clearly anticipating what might happen unlike Brown who reacts to what happens. I'm not getting carried away, it was a ten minute cameo and there is a long way to go but he looked much more calm and composed than a lot of prospects I've seen making their league debuts for Stoke. Unlike Delap he doesn't have a bull in a China shop approach and unlike N'goy he wasn't a rabbit in the headlights. It was as if he felt he knew exactly what he had got to do and that he could do it.

Unusual for a Stoke player not to take two touches I know and I also realise you find it difficult to give Smallbone any credit but that is totally unfair.

Agreed, Sobhi, Goodfellow, Ngoy and even most recently Delap are some examples where expectation has gone way over the top in the past and amounted to very little. Don’t know why but it’s happened a lot.

He had one nice touch where he received the ball and layed it off. His movement looked good. He wasn't on the pitch long enough to do much else. We have great expectations for the lad, but let's give him time. I think Neil is using him perfectly. Bring him on for a few minutes when the game is won and the pressure is off.

Classic case of seeing what you want. He didn’t bloody do anything. Not that that’s a bad thing, he didn’t have to and it was good to see him make his league debut, but why are people pretending he was brilliant?

He just controlled the ball with one touch which is something our other forwards bar Gayle seem to have a real issue with 😂

Just let him develop and stop comparing him to players years older than him. He’s an excellent prospect, just don’t make it a contest.

It’s not a contest but comparing him to players that play his position for us is absolutely fine. Especially when he looks looks much more of a natural footballer.

At Hartlepool the other forwards struggled to take the ball in quickly and turn. It's certainly something that Delap and brown couldn't ever do, so it is noticeable in the short times we've seen him that he's better than the others, far more senior players, at this aspect of his game already. It's worth commenting on and the manager himself has commented on it.

From the very limited amount of time i have seen him, what i have liked is he seems to be able to find space in the box. Anyone else think he’s the real deal? Showed a better touch than Brown, Campbell and Delap all season. Won a competed flick on header type situation which Campbell and Brown never do (it’s not their game). And looked stronger than the pair too. I hope he gets more minutes.
