Get Pulis back in now. The criticism he gets is unbelievable. He sets foot here again and it will be last time I go until he leaves, the guy is a fossil Great. Some of us don't want to watch us in League 1. Pulis would fill the ground if he came back. It's not going to happen because we have really stupid people running the club

Honestly, how any fan prefers what we are playing and going through now over the Pulis years is beyond me. Teams were terrified of us and the atmosphere in the stadium was electric. Loudest fans in the prem. Great times. Number of people who’ve said they prefer things now: 0 Teams weren’t terrified of us by the last couple of his seasons. Look I've read all hour posts and quite frankly you don't give him credit for anything. Boils my piss when I read idiotic stuff like you post.

Pulis left years ago, let it go for fuck sakes.

I give him all the credit in the world for pretty much everything he did until the summer of 2011. Find something inaccurate about what I’ve said. Helps if you can actually remember stuff, which you clearly can’t.

The Valencia away policy was deeply infuriating. Thousands of Stokies travelled. It was a tough ask but to hold up the white flag was just insulting. This situation was indicative of his approach. Pulis used to bang on and on about 40 points to the exclusion of everything else. He'd say it was pragmatism ut it could just as easily be seen as a lack of ambition. Successful as we were, the limitations placed on us became increasingly stifling. Pulis in a nutshell...his WBA side had a two man advantage against us and they were still spoiling and hanging on to a 1-0. Comes to something when mild mannered Bojan wants to deck you. The bloke is a stain on football.

Personally l thoroughly enjoyed my time in Valencia regardless of the side TP put out. A number of sides struggled in the Premier League as a result of also playing in the Europa League, not just us. Playing a number of fringe players in Valencia may just have helped keep us up. Agree. We also played some nice football. What about a dream team of TP and Ryan taking the helm when AN gets the sack. Dream team that is a nightmare

The starting line up Vs Valencia. T Sorensen S Diao R Huth J Woodgate D Collins D Arismendi R Delap W Palacios C Jerome K Jones R Fuller Shotton and Pennant came on as subs. We'd lost 4 games on the trot in the Premier League before this fixture, but having rested a few players vs Valencia, we won our next two. Make of all that what you will. I make of it that we had 12 games and three months of the season left and we needed three wins and a draw, and to not get that from the remaining game you’d have had to be a frankly dreadful manager Europe or not. Are you serious? Plenty of relegation-haunted teams fail to get ten points from their last twelve games. You talk as if it's unheard of.

For us to be remotely in the relegation conversation we’d have had to have been mismanaged fairly appallingly, no?

There is an argument to be had that in prioritising those 2 games against Swansea and Norwich he was proved correct when you consider we only won one of the remaining 11 games after that and drawing 6 and losing 4🤔but as others have said the shock/anger in the queue at Manchester airport as the news broke of the travelling squad was there for all to see

At the end of the day people can say what they want, Pulis is one of the best managers this club has ever had. Thats a fact.

It's not going to happen because we have really stupid people running the club Pulis would fill the ground if he came back 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 You couldn't make it up. Why does the idiot think they got rid of him? They got rid because crowds were down and ST renewals significantly lower. These owners are not interested in the quality of the football, they have a long history of appointing dour managers. A significant section of the fanbase was completely fed up of his shit football and voted with their feet which was not in the owners vision for growing the club.

Mate I agree but I’m convinced he looked at Chelsea,Tottenham and Man City as the 3 games after Swansea & Norwich and I thought we need the points sooner rather than later

I seem to recall either Pulis or Kemp once alluded to the fact that every time the fixtures were released they'd sit down together going through and marking off those where they thought they could get points ,the rest being bonus/ damage limitation games.
Risky as that was it obviously worked in those first tricky 2 seasons but if they were still doing that post 2011 .. Well it proved his ultimate ambition no matter what and probably explains the Valencia decision.

TP said himself at clubs like Stoke , WBA , Palace , the managers job is to outperform ( expectations)
You are not going to win the champions league or even the prem , you are most likely not going to win any silverware at all .
He was here for years , he must have made plenty of mistakes in that time.
But very very harsh , to claim he didn't outperform the expectations that were around , when he first walked through the door .
By any stretch , he outperformed.
He did a good job .

You won't find many arguing about him doing a good job, that much was obvious. What was also obvious was him slamming the brakes on / chucking in the towel as soon as his team reached 40 points, irrespective of when. At West Brom they were 7th and hit 40 points by March ,some even spoke of Europe. I don't think they won again for the rest of that season. It happened too often for it not to be by design. He really did not like going into a new season with expectation levels having risen.

The PL is that competitive (weren't Wigan relegated the season they won the cup?) And we won only one of our last eleven games so that shows how quickly things can go South.

Yeah but that was because he was cocking things up, it wasn’t an inevitability. He ran certain players into the ground. He had five strikers he could’ve used but Walters ended up playing 50-odd games. So did Ryan. He decided to ostracise Pennant despite not having another wing option. It wasn’t something that just happened, it was due to not managing the squad properly.

Yes, that's fair comment. But teams which lose consistently are teams (and therefore managers) which make mistakes. It's rare you have a team in the bottom three and you scratch your head thinking 'weird, but the manager's doing a great job ?)

The point is that we should never have been worried about our status at that point and there were other options available to us than sacrificing the away leg in Valencia. We were capable of beating Norwich and Swansea at home anyway.

the guy was a legand for us ,how people can knock him i don,t know, i would find him a job somewhere in the club,, always been stoke through and through, i would also get Bojan in on the coaching staff, he was a top player who can only do good for the club, No he hasn't always been Stoke through and through. He's a professional manager and gives everything, whoever he is with. I think he was a brilliant manager for us but don't go over the top.
