As someone summed up perfectly in the matchday thread. If Jacob Brown was the shooter, John Lennon would still be alive.

Fair points. However, it's still completely insane how a manager who's team were 8th in the Premier League at that time wasn't backed in the Jan window because the hierarchy had made their decision. Completely and utterly insane. Nothing to do with 'fanboyism'. I actually think it is worth noting what Nige had to say because TP unbelievably gets a lot of unwarranted shit as our club's joint most successful manager ever especially from the key board warrior brigade on here. It was actually a man of class, compassion & integrity bringing a much needed reminder to folk in a generous and balanced way. On what metric is he the joint most successful manager here? As for integrity, I'd ask Crystal Palace about that. Although TP is a man of integrity, I was referring to Nigel Johnson in this particular post. I don’t need to ask Crystal Palace anything thank you. Re the metric . Simple. I was brought up on Waddo’s 70’s team where we beat Everyman and his dog on a fairly consistent basis, won a cup, played in Europe and very nearly won the league. Precious times that will stay with me forever. In a very different era, TP took a team that was favourites to go down, up. Stayed up comfortably, made us a force to be reckoned with when most fans never believed we would ever see the top flight again. Amazing cup runs, first ever FA Cup final, European tour. Within the context and the timelines both had relative success and in my humble opinion they are joint most successful manager’s of Stoke City. That’s my metric, my opinion and the opinion of Mr Stoke City himself Nigel Johnson.

How many of that team give a shit though? And folk scoffed at TP for checking DNA before signing a player. Bring him back go sort it out!

It was a toss up between him and the bone idle fucker up front with him and it seemed like the majority of the crowd thought the same judging by the reaction to both substitutions Ty did some good things and was absolutely not deserving of the ironic cheers that greeted his departure. Singling him out above all others is just strange He does his best to avoid headers and tackles and looks a complete girls blouse when doing so!

Waddo won a cup, Pulis didn't. Roberto Martinez outperformed Pulis- with a smaller club- against the same opponent two years later. I couldn't care less what you think of Crystal Palace. The fact remains that a man you are holding up as a beacon of integrity has been proven in a court of law to be morally dubious.

You'd think we are cast adrift at the bottom of the league with the you're not fit to wear the shirt tripe. We just lack quality and a bit of aggression. 12th man? You're having a laugh!

Now then, now then- charity work isn't a cast iron guarantee of moral fibre 😉 Do we have to treat Lou’s work in the community with equal contempt for his betting misdemeanours? In other words I think casting aspersions about people’s morality is very dodgy ground. Better to just say you didn’t like TP’s style of football. Which is fair enough. Completely wrong in my judgement but it’s obviously subjective. His achievements at the club results wise are there in the records books for anyone to see as fact.

With you on this. The performance was poor yesterday but we still created enough chances to win the game. The players aren’t very good but they aren’t purposefully not very good. They lack confidence as it is so negative chants and booing aren’t going to improve things are they? Not saying we should all be happy clappers, but the booing is literally achieving nothing but shattering their confidence and contributing to even worse performances.

Fact. Nigel Johnson spoke about TP today saying how saddened he was when TP left, how he will always have a place in his heart, how he put him on a par with Tony Waddington. Does that make Nige a ‘fanboy’ and if so I agree with him 100% and would happily sign up to the same ‘fanboy’ club that Nige is in. How you saying something really positive about a current (difficult I know) or former player/manager that you have a particular affinity to rather than someone you hate?

It's a difficult one, I thoroughly understand people venting frustration and anger at our dire home form for the past 5 or 6 seasons. It's horrible as a stoke fan witnessing the passive downfall of our club but what can we do? Vent our frustration at the players who aren't good enough? Vent our frustration at the board who are hamstrung due to poor decisions 4 years ago? I'm just hopeful that we can limp our way to next year where restrictions will hopefully be lifted for us and our owners can then start to slowly invest into our squad.
